Shows that didn't make it

Of course not, any more than they re-created TOS costumes or sets for Strange New Worlds.
This really bums me out. I mean, I wasn't hyped for a Stargazer show anyway, but the fact that Star Trek CAN'T do the era justice because the (unwritten?) rules say that every prequel has to look shiny and new is just depressing.

The Star Wars prequels have their own problems, but at least when a Stormtrooper shows up on Andor they're allowed to look like a Stormtrooper.

Well, I guess I have a special love for the movie/pre-TNG era. I think it has a timeless look. The uniforms, ships, bridge designs, LCARS, etc. Nothing needs updating as far as I’m concerned.

TOS, with its jellybean-style interiors, looked a bit dated to me, so I don’t mind some updating there. Though I think they took it a bit too far with the interiors, for example. The interiors of the SNW Enterprise look even more luxurious than those of the Enterprise-D ever did.

The update to the TOS uniforms was mostly fine, but the designers failed to translate the original system correctly to the crew. They didn’t even get the simple stripe-based rank system right, and there are also some questionable decisions when it comes to a department system with only three colours (four if you count medical).

The TWOK rank system is far more complicated (so complicated that even the fourth edition of the Encyclopedia still failed to reproduce it correctly) and uses eight different department colours.

And of course, the Section 31 movie is living proof; nothing about its design elements suggests the year 2324.

Yeah, I use to like the monster maroons, but over time I've recognized they're a bit cumbersome as a daily work uniform. The insignia system is a bit complicated and at times hard to read but manageable. But, I prefer the rank sleeve insignia.

I've never really liked the red either. Strange New Worlds alternate at least felt more muted.
