Shouldn't Quark be in jail already?

On the "half a..." - was Jadzia in Starfleet before she was joined, like Ezri later?

And I'd wonder what minor of a sentence this must have been. He helped Verad & Co. taking control of the station and its crew by force. An act which almost lead to the death of a Starfleet officer (his attorney would probably try to argue: half a Starfleet officer). The fact that he changed his mind and helped to defeat Verad would have reduced his prison sentence from 6 years to 3 years or so, but this still doesn't explain why is walking around free the next episode.

If memory serves, he was under the impression that the raiders were buying something from him. He had no knowledge of Verad or his plan, so....perhaps that coupled with his helping our crew defeat Verad shortened his punishment to a stiff fine, community service...and maybe some probation.

He helped intruders circumvent security and bring weapons onto the station. “I didn’t know what they were planning on using the weapons for” isn’t much of a mitigating factor. Try that defense in the real world. (“Sure, I helped them circumvent airport security and bring guns on board the airplane, but I didn’t know they were planning a hijacking. They told me the guns were gifts and they didn’t trust the baggage handlers with them.”) That’ll go real far.

Plus, it doesn’t even make sense.

Yeto: I want to purchase those liquidated chains from you, Quark.

Quark: Excellent. Ten bars of gold pressed latinum.

Yeto: That is a fair price.

Quark: [sotto voce] I should have asked for more...

Yeto: We will arrive at the station during the upcoming plasma storm, when the station is evacuated and manned by a skeleton crew cut off from the outside world.

Quark: Isn’t that kind of dangerous?

Yeto: I’m a Klingon. I like danger. We will fake an emergency and prey on their sympathy to trick them into allowing us onto the station.

Quark: Devious. Worthy of a Ferengi.

Yeto: Like I said, I’m a Klingon. I like to talk about honor, not practice it. You must circumvent the security system so that we can smuggle weapons onto the station.

Quark: Why do you need weapons for this transaction?

Yeto: No reason.

Quark: Good enough for me.

Doesn’t exactly ring true, does it?

Perhaps this, perhaps that... It’s not too difficult to invent some fanwaks to explain the lack of apparent consequences, but it really should have been dealt with on screen.
