should the nfl blackout a foolball game

I honestly have no idea how blackout rules work. I'm glad I live within 5 miles of both Yankee Stadium and Giants Stadium

I thought it was just a matter of, if you live too close to the team's regular broadcast area, the major networks black out the games for you, just so you will either 1) go to the game, or 2) watch the teams' own networks, such as YES, SNY, etc. In my area that would be FSN Midwest for Royals games. (Conversely, MLB.TV blacks out all Royals games for this very reason.)

I'm pretty sure NYC metro would riot if Giants and Jets games were ever blacked out.

And living around here, YES is automatically in all cable carriers basic cable package, we don't don't pay extra on our bill just for YES.

I have no idea about the Mets cause they suck.

NFL blackouts occur when the game isn't sold out (which is rare).

MLB blackouts occur when a team in your home market is being shown on ESPN, unless it's a Sunday night, when ESPN gets priority, you have to watch your game on your normal station: YES, NESN, PeachtreeTV (rolleyes), etc.
