I don't know the current status of this, but....
Open policy on scripts might be nice, STNG and 'The Bonding' is a good episode and that brought Ron Moore to work on Star Trek.

But much like anal bleaching

Event hat can go really bad, if said professional happens to be an avid fan of a specific iteration/version of a franchise and discards everything that doesn't fit with their preferred version.
TVTropes calls it "Running the Asylum" (as in "the inmates are running the asylum")

Sure. I enjoyed ST'09, Into Darkness and Beyond. Plus his "Supreme Court" included hardcore fans as well as neophytes. So there was a mix of people in his creative circle. That's probably better than just having hardcore fanboys.

I mean, I don't dislike Axanar, but, like... you do realize it's not actually telling a story, right? Ultimately Axanar is just a series of documentary-style vignettes that don't amount to an actual narrative.
