This was *not* a voting option. But much like anal bleaching; writing, directing, and producing should be left to the professionals.
All Trek BBS members should come together to make an episode of Star Trek. What could possibly go wrong?

Glad to know where we stand.I consider everyone who votes ‘no’ in this poll to be my enemy, especially if they dislike Axanar
That would be impractical with the way modern shows are produced.Open policy on scripts might be nice,
Hmmm. Don’t think I’ve ever had a proper enemy before. Guess I do now. So what comes next? Pistols at dawn? A fencing match? 4 out of 7 at cribbage? This is exciting.I consider everyone who votes ‘no’ in this poll to be my enemy, especially if they dislike Axanar

So JJ Abrams.People who know the show and like it to some degree are fine but I'd rather have a showrunner who has never seen an episode before than a fan.
Nah, he'd seen the show. More like Harve Bennett or Nick MeyerSo JJ Abrams.

One thing Abrams has never been, though, is a Trekker. Or a Trekkie. Or even a Trekkist. "Star Trek," he says, referring to the original TV series, "always felt like a silly, campy thing. I remember appreciating it, but feeling like I didn't get it. I felt it didn't give me a way in
" 'Star Trek' I was never a huge fan of, actually, growing up," he confessed. "But I came to love it working on it."
As for Abrams' next big project, directing another highly anticipated sci-fi sequel, "Star Wars: Episode 7," it won't take any work to warm up to that one.
" 'Star Wars' is something I really did love as a kid," he shared.
A professional in the field who happens to be a fan? Sure.
Axanar?
Which shows he'd seen the show but wasn't a fan.
And this is the guy you want to head up a franchise.Which shows he'd seen the show but wasn't a fan.
Sure. I enjoyed ST'09, Into Darkness and Beyond. Plus his "Supreme Court" included hardcore fans as well as neophytes. So there was a mix of people in his creative circle. That's probably better than just having hardcore fanboys. And this is the guy you want to head up a franchise.
