Should the Discovery crew still wear Starfleet uniforms next year?

Do you think that getting casual Fridays would be a sufficient cause for a mutiny?

No what I mean she could mutiny for another reason and once she gets command she simply says "No more uniforms. Starfleet is gone and we now represent no government" or something like that. Depending on plot of course. Especially if they get their and the Federation is around but they are now corrupt and the bad guys.

Tilly's putting that bff-pic of her and Michael she grabbed during the evacuation scene on a shirt, and you know it. Hell, she's making one for Michael, too.
Saru: "Commander, why are you wearing a printed T-shirt on the bridge?"
Burnham (embarrassed): "Tilly gave it to me as a gift, Sir. When I started to dress in my uniform this morning, she started pouting, looked at me with puppy eyes and said I didn't like it. I... I had to, Sir."
Saru: "Does nobody have any respect for protocol on this ship anymore?
*cue Detmer entering the bridge wearing a 18th century Prussian cavalry uniform, complete with gold thread and a bicorn hat, and Saru takes a double take*
Detmer: "What? It's technically a uniform."
*right as Saru lets out a weary sigh, Owo enters wearing a deep blue Soviet marshal's uniform with a chest full of medals and a cape, exactly like Jason Isaacs did in The Death of Stalin. She takes a short look at Detmer, and then immediately looks at Saru.*
Owo: "Did I win, Sir?"
Saru: *facepalms*

uuuuhm... I might have gone overboard a bit.

You know I think their is going to be some major tech stuff in the future and I can see them needing combat suits like Iron Man or Starship Troopers etc. Everyone they encounter will be way,way beyond them both in tech and knowledge of how the tech even works.

Not necessarily. It’s possible that galactic civilisation is regressed for some reason to less advanced times - it’s happened on earth in real history plenty of times.

Also, they might have an edge if they can get the spore drive up and running again. With stuff like the micro - jumps like in the fight against the sarcophagus ship to evade/get behind an enemy, to simply being able to "outrun" danger, the old concept of combating superior strength with superior speed/agility isn't that farfetched.

I think they should go all counter culture and grow their hair long
Pick up guitars and go psychedelic, man
Turn on, tune in, drop out.
Have Buffalo Springfield blast over the ship wide speakers
Owo : "Fuuuuuck, detected some life form dudes on the planet below, Sir"
Saru : "Shit. . . . . . . . . .fuck it, put the Incredible String Band on, and erm, hit it !"

Is Bob Mackie still working? I'm envisioning a different high-concept outfit for Saru that changes every episode. Like Cher.

Wish I could 'like' that about 10 times! :techman::lol:

Saru could opt for everyone to have the look that is part Slenderman and part 'The Mask' :

Doug Jones is built so much like "The Stick", I'm usually reminded of him when I see Saru.

I think they'll maintain their ties to Starfleet even over 900 years in the future. I don't think they'll start wearing shorts and flip flops onto the bridge or other duty stations.
They can wear flip-flops if they have the Starfleet arrowhead on them.

Like the Disco T-shirts, they'll appear on StarTrek.com the next day.

I'd like to see their uniforms getting progressively filthier and damaged as the season goes on. I know they can just replicate more, but still.

I'd like it even better if it was the uniforms of everyone but Saru because he's the only one uptight enough to still care about protocol. Ending up with a scene where Tilly shows up without her jacket, he tries to admonish her about that and she meekly replies her jacket got so damaged there was just no point wearing it anymore with all the holes in it and the right sleeve only being held in place by at most four threads.

I’m just quietly hoping that when Discovery does meet a 32nd century Federation ship, it’s decades or centuries old, beat to hell, falling apart at the seams, and held together with duct tape and wishful thinking.
