Should Picard be the last major show to take place in that time period?

It's not so much that, for me, as I just think there's a lot of room for rekindled growth in many of my favorite characters from the era. The 24th century is handily the most fully-developed era, which -- yes -- invites the well-founded argument that it ought to be left behind -- but it also makes for a lovely jumping-off point for continued storytelling.

I'm not afraid or anything, though. I wouldn't mind leaving it behind!

I'm surprised at how afraid of change some Trek fans are. The 24th century and its characters have been played all the way out. It's time to move on.

When did Star Trek become about rehashing the same old storylines instead of exploring new places and eras and characters?

The poll question is not about storylines, but about a timeframe. I also don't think that "the 20th/ 21st century has been played out". I'm interested in any timeframe (of the future) as long as the stories are good, but I also think there's a lot to eyplore in the 24th/ early 25th. Whether you take some familiar characters or not, I don't really care. (Some, I think, have the potential.)

Now, if you think "Starfleet flagship exploring...", that might have been played out in more than one or two centuries. I'm interested in new angle, like the civilian politics of the Federation, or places outside the Federation, and many more things.

It has nothing to do with "being afraid".

I don't believe there will be more shows set in that era, though. And again, as long as the stories (and charcters, and worldbuilding) are interesting, that's fine with me.

I think to make a change means leaving behind some preconceived notions of what makes Trek Trek. And part of that is to be willing to tell new stories.

Now, the flip side is that there is a heavy amount of investment by fans in to a particular era, and the Berman era was among the most prolific, so there are a lot of threads of possible stories that people are already invested in to garner interest in that era's continuation.

I think we’ve got more from this time-period than any other. I’m happy for them to leave it and happy if they do more... so I guess I’m in the ‘don’t care at all’ bracket.

I'm easy either way but it's worth pointing out how open many Trek fans are to change and new ideas (sarcasm).
