I'm surprised at how afraid of change some Trek fans are. The 24th century and its characters have been played all the way out. It's time to move on.
When did Star Trek become about rehashing the same old storylines instead of exploring new places and eras and characters?
The poll question is not about storylines, but about a timeframe. I also don't think that "the 20th/ 21st century has been played out". I'm interested in any timeframe (of the future) as long as the stories are good, but I also think there's a lot to eyplore in the 24th/ early 25th. Whether you take some familiar characters or not, I don't really care. (Some, I think, have the potential.)
Now, if you think "Starfleet flagship exploring...",
that might have been played out in more than one or two centuries. I'm interested in new angle, like the civilian politics of the Federation, or places outside the Federation, and many more things.
It has nothing to do with "being afraid".
I don't believe there
will be more shows set in that era, though. And again, as long as the stories (and charcters, and worldbuilding) are interesting, that's fine with me.
