should I start watching Lost?

I never had seen an episode until today. I saw the 2nd part of the pilot and was lost (I know ) on what was going on, but it seemed really interesting. I know nothing of the series so it would be fresh for me. The question is should I get into it? Is it a good show or is it crap? Please advise. Thanks
Nah, you really shouldn't bother. None of us really like the show. It's just like Star Trek Voyager. They're stuck on an island but their clothes are always clean, they've an endless supply of resources, and they act like they're living perfectly normal lives. Every episode is an unconnected stand-alone story with a reset at the end. They do a few episodes every year where we think they're going to finally get off the island, but at the last second they don't make it. They dust themselves off and vow to try again. In the final episode they'll make it home. The end.

well I did it I rented the 1st dvd of season 1 and I'm hooked. I'm just pissed because I have to go to Orlando this weekend and I wanted to stay home and finish season 1. Thanks for the input.

I hope that big monster in the jungle is a T-rex!

Well this response is kind of late as I see you've already seen season 1. I probably am the minority as I'm a loyal viewer but I'm pretty much perpetually pissed off by this show. Yet I still watch it. (Isn't that the definition of insanity? ) I've often said, "If I knew then what I know now, there's no way in hell I would have ever started watching the show." So when people ask me if they should watch, my honest answer is "Hell no."

But here's the thing, that's me and I wouldn't presume to tell you what you're going to like or not like. Plus it's probably a considerably different experience when you can get the DVDs and watch it relatively uninterrupted. The show improve a LOT IMHO when they finally had their target end date in place and they FINALLY had to start moving the story along. Earlier seasons, such as 2 and 3, were IMHO, painful to watch.

I didn't start watching Lost until the last few episodes of the 4th season. After watching those episodes I was instantly hooked and went out and bought the first 3 seasons.

The Island is on top of a giant turtle that's floating through space.

I JUST SPOILED THE ENTIRE SHOW FOR YOU! :p

I must be the only person in the world who doesn't find LOST at all confusing.

I don't find it confusing either.

Mysterious? Definitely. Are they keeping certain things secret? Absolutely.

Have I ever been confused? Yes, but only when it obvious the writer's wanted it that way. That said, I have never thought the writer's didn't know what they were doing. Maybe it's because I've watched the entire show on DVD several episodes at a time, but the story has always been completely coherent.

It's confusing at times. And there are times when the show's writing is absolutely horrible. But if you are willing to rent or buy the DVD sets for the first four seasons . . . then go for it.
