Should I Blind Buy Babylon 5?

Legend of the Rangers is only 25% off but as I'm not ready to watch just yet I'll see if it drops or I find it elsewhere better priced like the OP found when starting this thread.

The VHS release was insane - they released season one, then season five, then two, then four, and they stopped without releasing season three, probably because DVDs were on the way. When the DVDs came out I put the VHSs in the basement, which later partially flooded and ruined them. I ended up dumping the entire VHS collection without watching most of them. BIIIIG waste of money!

Which I heard is complete trash that should be forgotten.

It's not as bad as its reputation. In fact, I think River of Souls is much worse.

But it's not great, that's for sure.

That's the thing about B5. Even much of the "inferior" work beyond the main series, I always find something to like about each story that has me keep it as part of the whole.

WBshop.com is having a sale where the 5 seasons and the 5 movie DVD collection are $12 each, Crusade is $7.50.

I have never seen the show. I have seen a part here or there because my sister was a fan, but I haven't really ever sat down and watched the whole thing (or most of the thing because I heard season 5 is horrible because everyone thought season 4 would be the end).

Last year I blindly bought Farscape and it's one of my favorite TV shows ever. I'm wondering if it would be worth spending $80+ on, if the DVDs are decently done, if the DVD order is correct or way off (like Sliders), or if it aged well, or feels dated (I mean the stories feel old, not the CGI).

So, have you decided if you are going to buy any of the dvd's?

I bought the whole series having seen half an ep or so purely on reputation. There was also some good deal that made me buy the whole thing.

Have since bought and watched most of the other stuff, Crusade etc.. all a mixed bag but still really great to be in the Bab 5 universe again.

B5 was a blind buy for me based on the DVD combo pack of In The Beginning and The Gathering and its now one of my absolute favourite shows.

Buy S5 as well, the first half is not as bad as a lot of people make it out to be and the second half is absolutely fantastic and on par or better than anything else in the show.
