Should Data Be Given A Chance?

With all of the scares in the media about AI destroying humanity, should we give AI the chance to evolve and experience life as humans experience life?

So long as we treat AI and set a proper example of the behavior we expect from it, we need not fear it.

But, we're humans, so of course we're going to mistreat it, provide a horrible example and become undone by our own sheer fucking hubris.
