Should Americans be required to buy health insurance?

Wouldn't it be great if no one had to worry about getting their basic health needs covered and costs were lower for everyone? You know, like a civilized society?
Yes but we don't live in fantasy land.

It's so much of a fantasy that apparently every other first world nation can manage to do it, except us. Hell, even some third world nations can do it, but I guess it's aiming way too high for the United States, or more accurately, the people who consider winning some arbitrary ideological battle more important than doing what's right or what's best for the country.

Maybe the Moon landing was a hoax, because at the rate we're going now I find it hard to believe we ever accomplished anything difficult with ideological anchors like you and your ilk dragging us down.

I only have one comment on make on this.

The rest of the civilized world disagrees with you, and so do I.
You cannot designate as a Right a service someone else has to supply to you.

I'm enjoying the dichotomy of your avatar coupled with your complete lack of caring for the plight of those less fortunate than you. It amazes me every day that you can justify your political beliefs versus the teachings of Jesus.

I however take it as gospel that you cannot refrain from talking about me personally instead of discussing the issue whether while giving a warning or unable to dispute a post.

Please, you're the Washington Generals of online debate. Show me one debate I've ever gotten into with you where I didn't soundly defeat your argument. I'll wait.

See? Please don't talk to me unless it's in an official capacity. Even then I'd rather someone else.

Thank you.

Quit hiding behind a mask of civility when you're anything but civil and I'll stop.

Thank you.

Of course Health Care is not a Right, any more than the Armed Forces or an interstate Highway System is. The issue has nothing to do with Rights; it has to do with the standard of living, and the best way to ensure that the people have access to health care.

If it actually had to do with health care it would cover every person who doesn't have insurance. It doesn't even come close.

Your right. The bill is essentially gimped because of people like you. Congrats! This is pretty much what I was afraid was going to happen from the beginning... to appease people who are so far ideologically gone that they'd rather believe lies about healthcare then recognize the facts, a single payer system had to be taken off the table.

I wonder how many of the Republicans congress critters opposed to the health care reforms have completely surrendered their government provided cover and rely solely on what they pay for themselves,.

The preamble is unamerican!

It just defines the purpose of our existence. That can be inconvenient when it comes to Politics.

The government wasn't forcing something on them? My bad.

Wow, can any statement be more wishy-washy?

Uhuuuh, the government was forcing "something" on them.

I don't understand the confusion. The Pilgrims were fleeing religious persecution and our gov't is pushing the Progressive's religious persecution with UHC. I didn't think I had to connect all the dots but there you go. :)

The good news is we have a few years to turn things around and undo this terrible health care plan since it has to be rushed through but wont help anyone for 5 or so years.

If you're in Mass don't forget to vote Scott Brown on Jan 19th. Mass needs to finally send an adult to the US Senate instead of teenagers with our credit cards.
