Shore Leave Results...

Spock's Barber

I've read several accounts about the filming of 'Shore Leave', specifically about GR having to do re-writing of the script while sitting under a tree on location. Considering how this could have caused a disaster with the budget and shooting schedule, I think the director, Bob Sparr, turned out a good episode. What say you?

I think the director was excellent, but the anecdote is that Shatner didn't like him, and that was that. No more episodes for him.

Agreed. I read that he "didn't give the actors enough attention." Sheesh. He was filming a very difficult episode under very tight time and budget constraints. Just how much attention did the actors need?

I thought that the fight scene between Kirk and Finnegan was well directed and executed. At least the stunt doubles looked similar to Kirk and Finnegan, unlike those who doubled for Kirk and Khan in the 'Space Seed' fight.

I have no interest in watching fighting for its own sake, because it's "exciting". I can like this one because it has that bitter harsh element to it. It has drama value.

^ From John Wayne's 'Cahill US Marshal'...

Frasier : "It was a friendly fight."
Cahill : "I never been in one of those."
:nyah:
