She's gonna wear a what?

...apparently quite a few are horrified at what they see in the mirror, hence the rise in genital surgery to "trim" the inner labia so it matches what you see in porn ....

Knives+ genitals= do not want.

Here is a story about Evan Rachel Wood wearing a Merkin for a part. I guess the word is used more often elsewhere, but not so much in the U.S.

My name's Trekker4747 and I approve of this idea.

You seem awfully excited to see fake pubes.

There's been a lot of articles and docos on this of late. Airbrushed porn shows a woman's vulva with no protruding labia which is not the case for most adult women. They shave, suddenly see it all unobscured, it doesn't match the porn and the next thing you know they have psychological problems and need to slice it off.

I think I recall (hopefully correctly?) there was interview with Christina Ricci a little while back on UK TV where she said was doing a period film being filmed over here that involved nudity, but rather than having a merkin she was going 'method' and 'growing it herself'. Which if true, :techman: for artistic integrity

Easy with the au naturale people. I'm not saying ya gotta shave your junk, I sure don't... but trimming it on the other hand... I mean, you don't have objections to cutting the hair on your head, I'll assume you're ok with people trimming their nose hairs, etc... So why do you get indignant when people don't want an unkempt mess down there?

Wow, this thread is odd.

Labia being in or out doesn't matter to me. It's not like it really makes a difference to anything, functionally.

As far as hair goes, natural is fine, trimmed is fine, shaved is fine. I will say that if the hair is more wiry than downy, oral is easier if it's at least kept trimmed. Seems like it's primarily redheads that have downy pubes, though.

And now I've met my TMI posting quota for today.

Maybe because the hair down there isn't normally on public display?

When it comes to pubic hair I can't say in real-life I'd have any real preference. I don't do anything with mine so why should I expect the same out of a mate? About the only "reason" I could see for a woman to keep her area trimmed is because women's swimsuits are more revealing in that regard than the swimsuits (trunks) men wear.

Beyond that, shave it, trim it, or give me the full Demi Moore I don't care.

Well, hopefully at some point it's on display for someone! In the exact moment where ya probably don't want to be unkempt!

And the exact moment no one would care. :rommie:

"Hey, what's that? A cow lick? You've been with the cow?"

I wonder if that procedure potentially causes problems in childbirth. I'm guessing that the "spaniel's ears" permit a degree of stretching, but I'm neither an anatomist nor an obstetrician.

There has been the odd program (and I mean odd) shown on late-night British TV about shaved women buying merkins as fashion accessories. The programs showed the articles in question being positioned and fitted by male "technicians". Now that is an interesting job -- I wonder if they get paid or they have to pay.

ETA: By merkin fashion accessories, I don't mean Lauren Merkin Fashion Accessories.

So far one person has mentioned the issue of hair and...ahem...sex. Am I to presume no one else has received (or been informed of) a wayward hair during sex?

This does not speak well for...well, Bill Shatner had words on the subject years ago, of which I'm sure we're all quite aware.

I trim. Shaving irregular spheroids is impractical (i.e., too much trouble, which is why I wear a beard)...but neither do I expect them to receive attention. Were they to do so...I'd have to do something (perhaps say "uh, no").

You realize full body hair was the norm for pretty much all of human existence up till maybe just the twentieth century, right?

It's natural so I'm assuming that "wayward hair" isn't a big deal.
