Sherlock - Series 2

Slightly off topic, but: Anyone know of a good forum for discussion of UK programs? Preferably a site with forums dedicated to a wide range of programs, that isn't antagonistic toward Yank anglophiles. Or even such a site specifically for/by Yank anglophiles?

I guess there's no way around Irene Adler in any version, is there?
I was hoping that she'd show up eventually and I like what I've seen and read so far...

Sherlock returns for a new series on New Year's Day and this time around the dynamic detective faces his most terrifying opponent yet - a woman!

The genius crime-solver (Benedict Cumberbatch) finds himself on uncertain ground when he encounters confident, powerful dominatrix Irene Adler (Lara Pulver).

After a screening of the phenomenally good series premiere, Digital Spy caught up with the charming Miss Pulver to discuss the modern-day Adler, her infatuation with Sherlock and how it felt to lounge about in the nude!

Hm. This could work for me after all..

Clearly the superior version. Much better than the RDJ attempt.
Honestly, why compare the two? Isn't the world a big enough place to allow for two simultaneous versions of the same character, without either having to be judged in relation to the other?

I don't see the problem with there being two simultaneous versions of the character but nor do I see any problem with them being compared.

I love both versions because they're so different from each other, and as Lonemagpie said, it's like comparing apples and oranges.

I'm a fan of both the Cumbermatch version and the RDJ version. I believe both are the best, most interesting portrayals of the legendary detective. I also love Freeman and Jude Law's portrayals of Dr. Watson and the way they don't make him look like a bumbling idiot or an ant in Sherlock's shadow.

I agree, I like both versions because for me the most interesting part of the whole series aren't the mysteries, but the relationship between Holmes and Watson and both versions do a pretty good job at portraying it. (Hell, for the first seasons of House I thought that was a really great reinterpretation of Holmes too.)

The Radio Times implies Sherlock gets out of the cliffhanger by "a gag" - it better fucking not be that Moriarty really left when he left, and Watson added the cliffhanger for his blog... Since Moriarty only appears in one story, they really should just have had Watson shoved out the door before the explosives go off, and him not know who survives until Sherlock turns up again. Final Problem done. But since this year's third episode is "The Reichenbach Fall" they're obviously not doing that. I guess we'll find out in 50 minutes...
