Sherlock - BBC ONE & HD - Sunday 25th

Not a bad show, overall. Not Sherlock Holmes, but decent quality. I liked the gimmick of the pop-ups for the cell phones, but they seem to have forgotten it about halfway through.

Yeah, at times the technology use seemed to be brilliant, but at other times, it seemed to take away from the story in general. Like the fact that Watson uses a blog to publish his stories is good, but there are times like it seems like too much of an easy way out. So, immediacy in a way, takes away from the drama.

BBC ordered three more 90 minute episodes for 2011. I *think* filming is scheduled for spring, and broadcast is autumn. I heard Mark Gatiss has started writing his episode a couple of weeks ago.

For me, the whole cabbie as culprit thing was telegraphed from the get go. It seemed more structured like a Columbo in that respect, not a whodunnit, but how he gets caught.

I couldn't take the denouement seriously either, I kept flashing back to the confrontation with the Sicilian in The Princess Bride...

But love the characters, and the update, all of the character stuff really worked well.

YUP!!! That came to my mind so fast, we laughed at it.

That is actually from A Study in Scarlet

I don’t doubt it, but the Princess Bride scene just played off of this near-cliche so well, it’s the touchstone in my mind.

Has anyone here seen the unaired pilot?
Is it a different story or is it study in pink?

I've not seen it but from what I've heard it is Study in Pink, but it's not as good.
I've seen it, and that is accurate.

Yup, accurate! They even went for cheap props in the pilot:
