Perhaps I overreacted a little. If you go back a page you'll see the whole thing started with me saying that Trek novels shouldn't go overboard trying to fix goofs and mistakes in Trek.
I don't think you'll find anyone anywhere who likes bieng compared to someone they've never heard of.
FWIW, the Trantor-like San Fransisco makes a lot more sense to me for what is pretty much the hub of the entire Federation. I wonder about overpopulation and if 2-child policies are inforced worldwide (want more kids? Move to a fledgling Federation colony world!) in this version of Earth's future? Problems like overpopulation don't go away by magic.
