It's become trendy here to bash Shatner, but before you do take a look at a recent USA Today poll where 70% of the general public said they wanted Shatner back as Kirk in the new film.

I agree that poll is far from a scientific poll...

Where is the downside?
Even Leonard Nimoy himself said the film would be better off with Shatner in it.
Except I believe it is JJ Abrams intention to make it an event WITHOUT Shatner. To attempt to make the draw Star Trek and the character of Kirk, not William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, or anyone else. If you've noticed the advertising, which is what will convince the great unwashed masses NOT reading a Star Trek message board at 10 o'clock at night to see the movie, hasn't played up Nimoy much at all. The most he's gotten so far is a short voiceover tidbit on the teaser and his name listed right with everyone else in the credits.VOODOOXI said:
Star Trek XI would be more of an event with both Shatner + Nimoy as opposed to just Nimoy.

Genius, isn't it?
Kind of gives me a little chill. Right down here.
