His body language suggests that he is lying.
That, or has gas.
He looks trimmer, and only really denys a cameo, and mentions the fact that Leonard is sworn to stay quiet about the script, which he denys having seen.
I agree it looks like he's lying when he says he's not in the movie, and hasn't spoken to anyone about it (I seriously doubt that), so that leaves a room for either a reasonable role for an older Kirkasaur, or saving a few Courics on a $150 million Trek film, without Shatner. That does seem illogical.
