Shades Of Grey

"Shades of The Gray" isn't too bad. Those that think it is haven't seen some of the truly dreadful "excuses-for-clip-show" episodes from shows such as "Friends", "Simpsons", "Frasier" and others.

At least it wasn't a: One of the crew considers leaving and everybody else sits around remembering previous good times and thinking about how much they're going to miss them.

As far as clip shows go, SoG was at least an innovative, slightly sci-fi'y way of rehashing old clips.

Very true.

But I'm glad they came up with "bottle" shows like The Drumhead in latter series. These were even better thought out, standing alongside some of the best stories across all series.

I absolutely agree. At least it had a good story behind it, and it actually helped to develope Riker's character a little more.
