SG-A – The Kindred Part 2 – (Discussion, SPOILERS!)

Well that fucking well sucked.

Wasn't it Mallozzi who said that if the bring back Carson campaign got airtime, they'd bring him back for a few episodes, and then said they were bringing back the *real* original Carson. No clone, no alternate timeline, but the real Carson?

Fucking liar.

Wait. This wasn't the real Carson? Mallozzi said that it would absolutely be the real Carson. What a fucking tease.

Not impressed. Not at all.

Actually, Mallozzi's precise words were that he would be "real flesh and blood." As in, not a ghost or hallucination or ascended being or anything like that. Of course, naturally, that mutated into "the absolutely 100% original no sci-fi cheat Carson Beckett" as soon as the internet got its collective hands on that one little four letter word.

Bloody fen. If I ever end up producing a show, I'm going to take a cue from the greats and never give them what they ask for. In fact, if I get stabbed in the back from being taken out of context like this, I might actually start giving them the opposite of what they ask for, as a demonstration of power.

Ah, I see. I guess I had only read the internet geek interpretation of Mallozzi's line. My apologies.

Honestly, I think the best course of action for a writer is to write what is best dramatically. If it is what the fans want, good for them, and if it's not, too bad. I think that's what the writers tried to do with Carson, so I'll give them credit there. The problem is, once they quickly dealt with his death in Sunday, everyone was quick to move on. Nothing got shook up, there were no lasting effects. And that's a major problem.

Over on SG-1, before everything was reversed, there was a whole episode devoted to Daniel Jackson's death. Following that, there was a whole episode that showed, in the context of a plot, the team dealing with his death. And following that, there was a whole two-parter dealing with Jonas' addition to the team.

Over on Atlantis, Beckett's death happens in the last five minutes of Sunday, the characters have a funeral for him, and that's it. There's no reaction from them in the three episodes that follow. Not even in Vengeance, which deals with the fall out from Carson's Michael experiments. He's barely name-dropped before they move on to ripping off the first two Alien movies. And then, in First Strike, Keller shows up without so much as an introduction! :wtf:

Re: SG-A – The Kindred Part 2 – (Discussion, SPOILERS!)

AAh! Why don't professional writers know the difference between take and bring? The line is supposed to be, "You should TAKE me with you." :vulcan:

I'm sure they know that but real people in real life say things just like that. A lot of people don't speak proper English.

Mckay telling Carson that him and weir were dead was a little funny

Does anyone else but me think it's a bit odd that it took McKay that long to mention to Carson he was believed to be dead? I mean, they had the flight back to Atlantis on the Deddy, certainly more than a five minute trip.

I realize it probably had to do with security and all, but if I were Beckett, I'd been going "Why the bloody hell are you all looking at me that way?"

Just my .02 worth. And I'm still pissed that they didn't bring back the REAL Carson Beckett. My theory would've worked nicely.

I wouldn't have minded an alternate timeline Carson, I have to agree that to bring him back for two eps, just to freeze him, kind of lame, I want him to play an active role! Why can't there be two doctors!?

I liked it. I actually thought they did the right thing by making him the clone instead of the real Carson. But freezing him in the end was a bit silly.

But freezing him in the end was a bit silly.

They needed a way to keep him around but not around so the wrtiers were not left with much choice. Its one of those painful things to watch because you don't want to see it happen which makes it better for the show in terms of drama and story.

Everythign was ok expect the constant worry about Carson. It was really obvious he wasn't going to stay for too long but the way they kept it up. :guffaw:

I'm glad they didn't send him to the shit hole they call Scotland.

Anyway to focus on other matters. Telya sucked. She brought down the show. Way crap.

This is really kinky looking with Teyla all pregnant and strapped to that table. Eww.

Late question, but, was Michael actually suggesting that Teyla become his mate or queen or whatever? It seemed like he suggested it when Teyla asked, "what would happen to after the baby is born?" ...or something like that. He replied with (paraphrasing), "I thought you understood, blah blah".

Sorry folks, I know I'm late to the game, but I just can't find any discussion of this in any of my other loyal discussion groups. If anyone is out there, your thoughts?? Did I misread the scene?

I just saw the episode on DVD a week or two ago myself. I thought the scene in question had Michael saying he would kill Teyla after her baby was born. If only...

Thanks Hiro, I figured everyone would have forgotten this ep and would be watching the olympics right now.

Hey, no problem. I could be wrong, I must admit. It's not like I have the episode in front of me. But that's what I remember. :)
