Madness. Doesn't this judge realize that he's just allowing Peter Watts to go out and ask more questions? These damnable activist judges are encouraging these dangerous Canadian interrogators to cross the border and spread their deviant inquisitive lifestyle! When will the question-asking end, judge!?
I enjoy his writing, though I'm not overly familiar with it.
I was keeping up with this story. At first it sounded as though there was security video that revealed it as an unprovoked attack on Watts, but then I read that there was no video mentioned in the trial so perhaps not.
I know a newspaper asked for a copy of the security video but was denied.
It's scary. People give up their rights as soon as they hit that small stretch of highway between countries. The Border Guards are more than happy to completely strip travelers of any personal dignity to prove a point. I really can't imagine how one unarmed man would provoke that kind of outburst.
I think because of his conviction, he can never return to the States.
If he gets help from a organization like Pardon Services, he can get back into the U.S. But I don't know if he wants to even bother anymore, which would be bad for his career.
