Sex offer from student

Oh I know. There are some, I work with 'em... who work the "sexual harassment" control policy at my job to get the men in trouble. HR has caught on and is taking steps to protect people, but the damage has been done.

After the blown out of proportion Tailhook scandal the Navy endured in the early 1990's, sexual harassment policies in both the military and civilian world went out of control. Women would accuse men of harassment and *BOOM* automatic guilt and punishment. The common joke/comment is that it was the fat/ugly/lesbians (or a combination of all three) who were the ones abusing the policy. From that point on, innocent hugs, a pat on the back, or even innocent terms of affection (dear, hon -- oh yes, these are common in the South and contain zero sexual connotation) were thrown out the door for fear of punishment. It was nice to see that the courts wised up to this nonsense by the middle of the decade.
While I don't believe that anyone should be fired for a hug or calling someone "hon" these things don't belong in a professional environment. If two people become friends and it is clear between the two of them that it's OK, then why would one of them complain? The complaints would come from someone who wasn't that close to the offender, and it's overly familiar and disrespectful.

I'm a guy, you're a guy, sorry, you can keep your hands to yourself and stop calling me "hun". The woman next to me feels the same way.

*Looks at Christmas card list, makes a line through LaxScrutiny's name*

It's her word against yours. If she's willing to take one up the ass for a good grade, she's willing to lie about you making her take one up the ass for a good grade.

Of course, the solution to this conundrum is that if it's going to her word against yours anyway, is to let her take one up the ass, fail her anyway, and then claim you never did anything.

Ah, logical problem-solving, you sweet but evil mistress...

screwed if you do, screwed if you don't?

Ah, logical problem-solving, you sweet but evil mistress...

she is a seductive little minx, isn't she?

Because there are some girls on this world who are vicious, evil creatures, and will start to haunt you, threatening to report you in if you don't do their bidding!

Unfortunately... that's not a joke :(

I've been on both sides of this. 99.99% of companies just up and fire the male when there is a complaint without checking. They don't want to risk the lawsuit.

There exists a certain group of women who use the system to further themselves or just make life hell for men in general. Most times the system functions as indented but thanks to a recent cluster of lawsuits HR suits are having to sit up and take notice, the "kick the bastard out" policy isn't always the best policy, especially in the face of someone who has parked herself in a position and is booting men right and left.

Slippery subject for sure. If it was my call I'd take the time to investigate the complaint and document both sides.

^heh, i'm the only man in my office, I was told that i'm here as a token (what they DON'T know is that my aunt has a say in who is allowed into the labs, and I have a feeling that after this project is finished, that this firm won't be getting any repeat buisness from them) that I shouldn't even consider advancement, and that if I even looked at anyone funny there would be hell to pay

In the spirit of the thread I actually knew a teacher that went to jail for molestation. In fact he was my favorite teacher(and no those two things aren't related). He was my English teacher in Junior High and later taught at my high school. He was a really cool, laid back hippie kind of guy who played guitar and had a long beard. He was the teacher that let us use his room at lunch to play D&D. Anyway this was after I was out of high school. A student who had a lot of problems claimed she had a sexual relationship with him. Absolutely no one believed her story because he was the type of teacher who was everyone's friend and always tried to help students so they just thought she was a messed up girl imagining things. he just wasn't the kind of guy who would do that. Turns out from telephone records it was obvious he had a much more involved relationship with her and he confessed to it. That was one of those moments for me when you realize that sometimes the world isn't the way it seems.

Wow. I've often wondered if this kind of stuff goes on. I have to say, I don't know if I'd have had the willpower to turn her down!

Sir, I stand in awe of your mental capacity.

I teach several freshman music classes at a large university. Earlier this week, one of the girls in a class came to my office to discuss her grade. She said, word for word, "Professor, I really want an A in your class. I'll do anything you want for it."

I replied: "Really? Anything? Absolutely anything?"

Her: "Yes, anything you want me to do."

Me: "Sounds great. I'd like you to study."

Her: "Oh." She gave me a nasty look and wandered out.

Sex is the first thing that you thought of? I'd have gone with labor, personally. I understand that big universities have TAs, but an eraser-clapper is always useful.

It's why you should go out of your way to insulate yourself from such accusations. Pretend to be gay - extremely gay. Get a reverse beard, even. set it up so that no one would possibly suspect that you were heterosexual, and thus any sexual harassment claim would be laughed off.
This also has the advantage that women will be more comfortable around you and treat you as a friend. Some of them might even lament to you that all of the good men, such as yourself, as gay. You can then slowly and gently nudge them into the idea that they might be able to convert you, if they were good enough in bed.
"Okay , I'll give it a try just once, you can say." And they'll be putting enough effort into it to make things great.

Either that, or go with the refuge in audacity and sexually harass everyone, without exception, so openly, flagrantly, shamelessly, and flamboyantly that no one can possibly blame you for it. If you do it right, everyone would just accept it as a personality quirk, an eccentricity, part of your style, and everyone will love you all the more for it. It'll make them laugh and smile.

I'm not a teacher but I turned down an offer of non-commital, one-time sex with someone probably 15 yrs younger than me last week. I guess younger women like married guys.
