Seven Of Nine's Maturity?

Taylirious

Rear Admiral
Rear Admiral
I was watching 'Someone To Watch Over Me' it takes place later in the 5th season. 5x22 to be exact. We know she is physically an adult she has the vast sum of Borg knowledge but was she really mature enough emotionally to begin romantic pursuits? As wonderful and charming as this EP was with 7 & Doc, the end result is no.

1. She has a fully constructed mature adult rounded subconscious from half a lifetime spent living and loving in Unimatrix Zero.

2. Her human conciousness was alive, awake and screaming the entire time the Collective was using her body like a tool to rape the galaxy. She told us a story on camera about how she remembered how much it hurt when the Borg drilled her eye out to put in an ocular implant.

3. Seven has a cache of complete consciousnesses that she assimilated which she can draw upon from the bolster her personality, as well as a copy of a cilffsnotes version of the entire collective in her brain which tricks her into thinking that she is a super genius able to use/manipulate any technology known to the Borg, and anything else the Borg thinks a Drone should know to survive. Harry called her the most intelligent human being in the universe.

:)

The lack of grace "Seven" had in the series is not because she was Borg, it's because deep down she was always meant to be and always would have been a complete abrasive shit... And that may be why the Borg got rid of her and didn't want her back.

Remind me, how hot were her parents?

The Hot/Arrogant Shit Scale has to be related to the Hot/Crazy Scale.

Transwarp is ten thousand times faster than Voyagers fastest ordinary warp speed.

Transwarp navigation sensors are comparable to the speeds Borg Cubes travel at, which means that they know where everything in the galaxy is and what sort of threat it poses to the Borg as an empire and as Sunday drivers. Everything can be tagged and tracked so it probably is tagged and tracked. Even if Voyager could hide for a little while, as soon as they stop hiding, the Borg know where they are instantly and can head them off instantly.

The Only reason that the Borg were not harassing Voyager constantly like the Kazon or the Hazari in Think Tank, is because the Borg did not give a damn.

Cost has to equal benefit.

The cost of recovering that ordinary Drone exceeds the benefit of recovering that ordinary Drone, until the fricking Queen sent for Seven a year and a half after she ran. Not an autonomic collection agency or Anika's immediate superior (look at me thinking in human terms of hierarchy), or even the entire collective itself. The Queen's ideology is seemingly independent of typical Borg protocol, almost as if she's in charge of "special projects" and Seven was worth their while as a special project, but not as an ordinary Drone.

The Borg were good with where Seven was (90 percent of the time.).

It definitely would have been better for Seven if there was somebody else on Voyager besides the Doc at the same level of emotional development. (Actually, maybe that's why she chose Chakotay. ;) )

But in the end she's an adult and capable of making her own decisions, and she had to pursue it on her own terms. The combination of fully adult body and brain and childlike romantic experience is unique so you can't apply normal social conventions to it. Seven had to approach it on her own terms. It's not like any male on the ship is physically capable of taking advantage of her.

Is she concious during regeneration?

When I was 10, my friends and I used to have sleepovers, 4 or 5 of us in a room watching a stack of videos we rented trying to stay up all night, because if one of us nodded off, some bastard was going to draw a cock on your forehead.

Made more sense for 7 of 9 to want to get it on and to be ready for it, at least she's been around for over 20 years in one form or another, than for Kes, who was 2 and couldn't possibly have had the life's experience to be mature enough to begin to understand all the emotional complications involved.

You do realize that she is an alien with a different sort of brain that is designed to mature at a grossly accelerated rate?

Every she did was normal.

Everything you just said was acutely speciest.

...

It's possible that Anika is still in a Box, and that the woman we got to know is a Borg Autopilot program.

Just a passive piece of AI meant to keep her running from fire and harm until the Collective can save her.

I considered the accelerated maturity aspect. I don't buy it. Life's experiences matter. You can't be mature about things that you haven't observed or experienced yet. For a species to be "that" mature after only 2 years of life seems more Star Wars (fantasy) than Star Trek (sci-fi).

She spent several months being continuously raped and beaten by the Kazon.

Does that help?

Implied but never stated or discussed. Considering it takes her about ten seconds to recover from her ordeal w the Kazons and it doesn't seem to have had any effect on her whatsoever: no.

"Never discussed".

HA!

Humans forget a lot.

Kes doesn't.

(Kim remembers being born ...Shut up!)

You might remember 0 minutes to half an hour of any random day in your life, but she remembers every second of every day.

The collected memories in her brain of one week is more raw data than one of us might keep from a life time.

Of course %99 of that data is absolutely nothing of value.

Have you ever heard the reverse argument for Vulcans?

That because of their life expectancy, they mature slower.

That they shouldn't be looking for a teenage sexual dalliance till their 40s.

(But it's really easy to find evidence to blow that theory out of the water.)
