Seth McFarlane wants to Reboot Trek on TV

Not by a longshot. The new Trek movie has created much needed breathing room by dumping the enormous amount of superfluous canon, any new series or movie will follow on from it no matter who ultimately directs it.

And yet the next movie is going to feature Khan.

And this has what to do with canon?

Considering that the character and the circumstances by which he's rescued have changed, with all the other reboot factors to consider in this universe, very little.

One of the key reasons for the new timeline - if not the reason - is to allow Abrams & the screenwriters to use well-known characters and interpret them in new ways. Otherwise, why bother with TOS at all? Just make up all-new Trek characters. The obvious reason is that they need well-known names to get butts in seats. If any of their movies flops at the box office, that's the end of all the fun.

Montalban's performance is hardly the best that can be imagined. If they get Naveen Andrews to play Khan, he could completely eclipse Montalban, who was always a bit corny and campy, running around with his manboobs on display. Or maybe I'm just jealous that he's a cup size or two bigger than me. :rommie:

The only thing that was right about the future of Trek pre '09 was JJ Abrams directing, the casting of the younger Spock and the 150 million dollars. Other than that it was a complete disaster, IMO. Orci and Kurzman are great writers who wrote a cool first meeting scenario but they're not Star Trek or sci-fi writers. Had they out sourced and worked with a concept writer they might have had a story to tell without the alternate reality which was the major thing. The ship was ugly, interior and exterior. The staid Pine was wrong as was the bad boy arrogant characterization. I think that was the most offensive. Add to that the Kobiashi Maru, The old Spock (stunt casting), the giant space drill, and I'd rather see Plan Nine from Outer Space.

That's good. Enjoy the movie. The rest of us will be in the full theater watching the next Trek movie.

Well, I won't be there. So that's one seat you don't have to fight for.

You don't want to see Khan throw a Talosian over his shoulder while battling a god possessed Gary Mitchell for control of the Enterprise? what's wrong with you? Explosions and sex never gets old.

Yea, it's easy to forget that the chicks love the sadistic shit.

What in the hell are you talking about anyway? for that matter what the hell are you ever talking about? I'm sorry but your constant spewing of completely non-sensical bullshit is getting annoying.

And yet they're desperately trying to cast Latino actors for the part.

Strikes me as a tad short sighted.

If they're really casting Khan and they think he needs to be played by a Latino actor, then I may have to join you on the Official JJ Abrams Bashing Squad (OJABS, I like that acronym!) Because that is really stupid and also maybe racist but mainly just stupid. :rommie:
