But we did learn about the characters, as it was their fears Isaac used to populate the holo-program.

I loath reset buttons in general as a matter of principal, but Firestorm I don't mind since it was primarily a character piece for Alara, and her character development still happened in the end so the episode isn't a complete write-off.

As for holodeck stories in general, I'll admit I could have been glad to never see another one again. But then seeing Mexican Banditos dancing to "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" was the best holodeck scene ever, which I must admit, if Orville did a holodeck malfunction inexplicably threatens the ship episode, it could actually be pretty entertaining. Though if they never did one, that would be just as fine by me.

Firestorm was one of my favorite episodes, it was one of the best uses of a holodeck I've ever seen, and I loved the development we got for Alara. Some of the fears they used were also pretty good, like the evil clown, and the empty ship.

You know what would be awesome? If the guy is the clown costume went around the filming lot randomly scaring people.

And then, of course, there was Justin The Beheaded.

The simulator room on Orville really is pretty entertaining, because the writers recognize and use it rightly as a trivial piece of nonsense good mainly for gags. Here's hoping they never get the bright idea that some kind of holodeck ghost should be a regular crew member, or something.

The Bandito, the clown, the ogre and whatever other strange characters all come to life at the same time.

That there would make for an awesome sentence in an episode plot synopsis.

Or the start of a joke. "A bandito, a clown and and ogre walked into a bar......" that's all I got.

Ed: "Gordon, that's the worst joke ever."

Gordon: "Well, you try improvising a joke on the spot."

There is..an..alligator in the cargobay. I successfully crushed it with a chair.

    Where did it come from?

I do not know.Regardless, it is crushed.

I wonder who would win in a battle of the stoic one liners, Bortus or Worf?
