Seriously...why?

You are aware that there are people who use this forum that have physical disabilities, right? There are many, and there's a good chance that some will read this thread. Please have some perspective.

You are also aware that there are people with physical disabilities that have an active social life and partake in physical activities, right? It doesn't make any sense to even bring up people with physical difficulties using this forum, it's irrelevant. After all, barely anyone is going to use their physical disability as a reason for a high post count. What I saw in your post was a covert dig hidden within an apology. If that wasn't the case, then I'll accept I'm wrong, but there was no reason for you to bring up physical difficulties.

The reason people like J. Allen have high post counts is because they have been here nearly a decade and are actively social throughout the board in places such as Misc, TNZ and the lounges. Being social on the internet not only increases your post count but your eputation as a member of a community.

Why did you need to bring up physical difficulties? Does it really matter? After all, barely anyone is going to use their physical disability as a reason for a high post count. What I saw in your post was a covert dig hidden within an apology. If that wasn't the case, then I'll accept I'm wrong, but there was no reason for you to bring up physical difficulties.

It stands to reason that someone with a physical disability who cannot leave the home may have a very high number of posts, something that may appear excessive in most situations. I have seen this in the past, on other forums, on numerous occasions. What I said is informed by my experiences. I don't judge these people negatively at all, it is in fact a healthy way of coping with such a disability.

In making my original comment about having a high post count being "a bit sad", I failed to remember that many of those people would probably read what I said and find it insulting, inconsiderate, or otherwise small minded. I do not find the disabled to be a sad bunch. I find most of them to be extremely inspiring people who are for the most part stronger in spirit than me. Therefore I decided to include an apology to them in addition to my initial apology to J.Allen.

Obviously, an excessively high post count doesn't mean someone is disabled, but that's fairly obvious and I didn't feel the need to spell it out. I realize now that was an error in judgment. I should have anticipated someone may look for the worst in my good intentions.

Also I don't appreciate you changing your post so much after I already responded. Seems slightly deceptive. Your initial post is what I quoted.

If you would like to continue this discussion via PM, feel free to do so, but I'm not interested in further de-railing this thread.

Some friendly advice, here: quit while you're ahead. This is gonna end in tears if you don't, because whatever you add to it, it's only gonna make it worse.

I'm not sure who this is intended for, but I invited him to discuss it with me via PM, so as to not continue to de-rail the thread. I appreciate the friendly advice, though, if it was intended for me.. although I'm not quite sure what it means :)

Just to reiterate, I did not know your friend made the video. Also, 50,000 posts on this board doesn't even put me in the top 10. In addition, I have been here almost 9 years. One can accrue a large number of posts in that time. This is just a movie to me (though a beloved one), and I don't try to purposefully hurt people over a simple disagreement about a movie (though I have been known to lose my temper when I'm having a really bad day). I did not attack your friend, neither did I attack you. If you feel I tried to personally dig at you or your friend, then I apologize for that misconception.

I do apologize for calling your post count "sad". You're right, you can accrue a lot of posts in that time. Although, if I continued posting at my current pace, after 9 years I would have amassed roughly 950 posts, so I still can't quite wrap my head around 55,000.

However, I did fail to consider that many people who post here may have various kinds of physical disabilities and might not be able to leave their home, so if that's the case for you, I truly beg your forgiveness, and apologize if I offended anyone else who may be in such a situation. Please have a nice night.

While I have no (obvious :p) disabilities, I appreciate your consideration, and on a note of mutual respect, consider the matter closed. :)

Haha, good to hear, as do I. I am glad you did not misinterpret my words. I have a tendency to over think things sometimes and it can get me in trouble. Re-reading that quote, I see that I could have made a much smoother transition. Chalk it up to sleep deprivation.

It was intended for you. I just meant that sometimes, we say something, and it can only get downhill from there, even though we meant no-one any harm. It started with that "50.000 posts thing, that's sad" comment, which you took back, but still: the more one tries to explain a failed comment, the worse it gets.

And I really did mean it as a friendly advice. Something similar happened to me once in a different forum. :)

Usually I process things twice before I create a response, so no worries. :D

Also, sleep eludes me as well. Cursed pied piper's lunar slumber that belies upon me the earthen desire to rest my eyes and release the tempest of my mind from the reaches of creation, upon the borrowed backs of slavered sandmen alighting simmering shoals of carefree breathing, breathing thoughts within, without, an unaware portrait of blissful ignorance, punctuating... um, I mean, yeah, I'm sleepy too. :shifty:

I love the film, but the lensflares annoy me somewhat. Not enough to ruin any enjoyment of the film, though. For the film is awesome on a stick.
