Series 9 Set Reports Thread (SPOILERS)

Guest Star in Episode 4 (which is what they've started with).

Allegedly.

I really want that to be true. I've always liked K-9, and I'd like to see the 12th Doctor interact with him.

Wonder which one. K9 Mark I, last seen on Gallifrey with Leela (ignoring the Australian series)...K9 Mark II stuck in E-space with Romana (or also on Gallifrey depending on what canon you follow) or Mark IV, Sarah Jane Smith's one? If so, will the series aknowledge Sladen's passing in some way? (I know her husband made a guest appearence in Deep Breath as the tramp).

I'm sure it will be Sarah Jane's one, since the others (if they still exist) are lost on Galifrey or E-Space.

Sarah's K-9 was last seen with Luke, so if Tommy Knight is available, then that would allow them to appear without having to address Sarah's absence specifically.

I didn't realize he was still acting; I'd heard that he had retired from acting, but I see from Wikipedia that he's done Waterloo Road and Glue since SJA.

And Waterloo Road begins its final 10 part run tonight, so even if he's still in it - can't remember - he'd have finished shooting it before Christmas. Could all fit, but who knows?

So, when is the new season actually airing?

Autumn. August/September wouldn't be at all out of the question. Series 8 began filming at the same time last year. (The earliest footage for "Deep Breath" was Matt Smith's appearance, done during "The Time of the Doctor," and the episode proper began filming on January 7th.)

I really hope not. I'd like to think she's still back on Earth fighting the bad guys with her kids.

Of course, the Doctor could always encounter K9 in some far future setting, long after he and Sarah Jane parted ways.

Me too.:techman:

While K9's appearance still sits in the Rumour category, the first human guest star looks like being Paul Kaye. Better known these days from Game Of Thrones, I still remember him from his days humiliating self-important celebs back in the 1990's as Dennis Pennis.

Ooh Dennis Pennis was amsuing at the time but makes me cringe now. Luckily Kaye has developed into a good actor.

Dennis Pennis made me cringe at the time, but luckily Kaye has done better since - I was surprised how good he was/is in Game Of Thrones. So, yeah, I'm perfectly OK with him being in Who as a guest actor in a way that I wouldn't have been with him being a guest celebrity.
