Series 7 FINALLY Starts Shooting

Is this Snowman a British thing, because I have no idea what you guys are talking about, unless its Frosty the Snowman.

August 25 showing of Asylum in NYC according to BBCA. Also one of my friends who works in cable television chatted today with her BBCA rep, and she was told (and I asked her to confirm) that Sept.1 is the start date for BBCA.

Yeah, I know, "hark at the fanboy slamming it before it's aired..."

I just really *reallY* fucking hate The Snowman and everything to do with it, because it's so fucking inescapable every fucking year. And I hate the pliers-up-the-skirt song. And the animation.

The Star Wars Holiday Special is better...

Inescapable?! It's only on for about 10 minutes and it's on Channel 4 so it's even easier to avoid because it'll be stuck between Come Dine With Me and Deal or No Deal. I don't think I've seen it for over a decade now.

On the other hand.... Could Moffat's next Christmas episode be 'inspired' by the Star Wars Holiday Special? That would be a sight.

After reading the Wiki on The Snowman, I can see it working. Just replace the snowman with some sort of alien artifact and you're golden.

And I've certainly got no problem with a redone opening theme. I've always found it inferior to Tennant's themes to be honest.

Gallifrey Base posted spoilers on the Christmas special

-Clara's full name is "Clara Oswin",

-The way she's introduced is very "Wizard of Oz".

-She is a computer expert from the 21st century, but becomes a victim of the Weeping Angel's attack on New York City, transported back to Victorian times.

-The Doctor, suffering from a "deep depression" following the departures of The Ponds, bumps into Clara in this era. The two, along with Vastra and Jenny, battle a living Snowman created by Richard E Grant's character, who is an alien.

-The Doctor later discovers Clara is dead in the 20th century and visits her grave with Vastra and Jenny. He then decides to find her, possibly to avert her fate

BBC America is doing a preview screening in New York City next weekend on the 25th.

They announced on the Anglophenia blog on Wednesday that the tickets would go on sale sometime on Thursday and that the link would be provided on BBC America's Twitter feed.

Like many people I know, I spent my Thursday with a browser window open to BBC America's Twitter feed.

Then the link went up shortly before 2 o'clock yesterday.

And several thousand Doctor Who fans on the East Coast (and possibly further away), perhaps even tens of thousands, clicked through at roughly the same time.

The result was, essentially, a DDoS attack on the website of the ticket provider. The website crashed.

Somehow, in the midst of that DDoS attack, I scored tickets for "Asylum of the Daleks" in New York City, followed by a Q&A with Matt, Karen, and Caroline Skinner, for next weekend.

I'm starting to get excited. It wasn't real to me yesterday. Now it is.

Of course "The Snowman" has had some fun taken out of it.

Ohhhh, Allyn, I hate you a little bit. I was one of those who didn't manage to score any tickets, and I've had no luck finding anyone who did get some and are willing to part with them (understandable I suppose--I wouldn't part with mine if I'd gotten any!). Still, if anybody I know online was able to get tickets, I'm glad it was you. (You swine. :p)

I got as far as entering my CC info and name and address, the PROCESSING spun and then crashed out. I offered 10 times the ticket price to anyone who wants to sell theirs :)

Check your credit card and see if you were charged. If you were, call movietickets.com (1-888-440-8457) and check. Their servers were so slammed that the confirmation may not have gone out. I didn't get my confirmation e-mail until 1 o'clock this morning.

Nahhh, I wasn't charged, but I am still checking my account. Someone on the twitter feed said they were seeing someone elses' info after the PROCESSING spun.

Do paraphrase the Doctor, "What, What, What?"

That's just wrong.

Though the question that might have to be asked is why are the Dalek's asking the person they most fear to save them. (Though appeareances can be deceptive in a trailer due to howw it's edited and the context)
