Series 5 'Bible' spoilers

He was certainly aiming high! Though I suppose Jason Carter isn't really aiming high even these days, let alone 25 years ago.

More from Lee Mansfield, confirmed by Eddie:

"Sea Devils and Master in Specials....Confirmed.

Top quality moving mouthed, blinky moving eyed, NETTING clad Sea Devils!

CGI Myrka to finally exorcise our collective fan memories

Oh...and kind of linked to that the guys who did Walking With Dinosaurs have been asked to help design and create a CGI Skarasen for Season 5

I also have it on good authority that Mr Stewart has been asked to play The Monk! (Not Omega)";

"Oh, and related to the Monkety Monkey Monk thing -The Master story line for the special DOES apparently involve him trying to be "the saviour" of the Time Lords. ..."; and

"Yeah. He must have thought to himself...'well I escaped the time war...what other Time Lords might have had the nous to leg it too?....I wonder where Mortimus went....and the Rani....and Morbius after they resurrected him for the war....' ;) "

I'm only reporting what he said; and noting he has an excellent reputation as a reliable spoiler source - believing it is up to you! :)

Like all good Doctor Who, Death Comes to Time does something new and something different.

Personally, I enjoyed DCtT enough that I'd've loved to hear a sequel that somehow fit it back into post-McCoy continuity. (If anyone ever makes such a thing, I freely suggest Time Comes to Life as the title.)

Clever title. :)

I've thought, from time to time, that someone really needs to create a fan-edit of Death Comes to Time, sort of like what The Phantom Edit did for The Phantom Menace. Take out all the bad stuff (like the sixth episode), and make all the good stuff even better. If I were doing it, there would be more Stephen Fry, probably -- I'd raid his "Podgrams" for Stephen Fry vocal goodness. Beyond that, I don't know what I would do, except that it would fit the traditional four-part format when it was done.

all interesting, but im not going to believe it just yet, it still sounds like wishful thinking on the part of OG.

I'd be pretty impressed if you could take out an episode that doesn't exist!

Just take out the painful NASA bit, and I'll be happy.

Oh dear, oh dear.

At this point I don't see how anyone can read this rubbish and see it as anything other than fanwanky delusions / an attempt to wind-up fans / an attempt to see how many false stories can be got into the Tabloids.

^ I can't help but agree with you. I'll take the Master happily, but there's far, far too much stuff going around involving classic series features or enemies. It's not credible anymore.

Khaaaaaaaaaan!

The fifth episode is super-long. I meant the last half of that, basically. I mean, yes, it's cool for the Brigadier to be leading a space fleet, but it doesn't make any damn sense at all.

I'd probably also get ride of most of the Ace stuff. "I grant you TARDIS" and the cod philosophy. :)

There is an easy way to bring back the Time Lords: have Jenny (the Doctor's daughter) be the mother of a new vaguely Gallifreyan race, who will call themselves "the NEW Time Lords" or something like that, and basically do everything wrong from that point on.

There are many different ways you could bring the Time Lords back but Moffatt would have to change one of his basic beliefs about what's good and bad about the series before any of them ever get implimented.

I'd heard about the Sea Devils, originally rumoured for series four IIRC, which then seemed to make sense following the name dropping in the Master episodes. I can believe they've gone into a special instead. Should be fun! I'd also heard that John Simm was coming back from other sources, so that I can accept too.

Interestingly, a Sea Devil and Zygon were among the classic series figures recently released. Presumably these had to be cleared by Cardiff?

Patrick Stewart as the Monk is a little out of left field, but he's got a wicked sense of humour which he has rarely shown in his TV and film work, and he was asking around for a part last year. If the Time Lords are coming back, why not?

Oh sure. I wasn't claiming it was a good idea. Just that it was possible to think of ways to bring back Time Lords without bringing back THE Time Lords.

Yeah, apparentally the Silurians/Sea Devils were something that RTD would've liked to have done at some point, but he left before he commishioned it.

It could be interesting. Although their costumes weren't the best (and the Myrka of course), they do have an interesting backstory and I'm sure the new series team could make them look pretty good ala their update of the Sontarans.

Oddly, they always looked better in the Pertwee stories than in their 1980s return. The new series crew will be able to make them more like retiles than men in rubber suits. Hopefully.

If Simm is back then I am so am I. Although it will be hard to top his amazing performance last time. And I'm curious as to how they will do it.

hopefully? if ITV can make Primeval look half decent, the beeb should manage this with little problem.

any hints of having the 3 new time lords from season 4 in any of the specials or season 5? maybe a "team who" versus evil time lords?
