Just purchased this yesterday. Reviews look good. Anyone seen it on Blu-Ray? What did you guys think of the movie and the effects? (without giving away too much...)

Thanks.

I already own the original DVD AND the Collector's Edition DVD. I'll pass on the Blu-Ray for a while.

Also, Firefly on Blu-Ray is an insane amount of money at Best Buy.

Anything on Blu-Ray is worth it and I happen to have Serenity. The first five minutes alone made it worth it.

My wife, having seen none of Serenity or Firefly was like, "whoa".

Got a BlueRay player for Christmas from my girlfriend's folks, I can't believe how great the picture is. I might as well stick pins in my eyes if I ever watch another regular dvd.

Serenity would be awesome on this I think, I'm going to go pick it up. Just watched Tropic Thunder last night, that was pretty good.

I bought it last week as my first blu ray. I wanted to get something to test the new BD drive i bought for my pc and saw it going for a reasonable price on amazon.

I would probabbly own a lot more if studios released tv shows quicker, as i dont really want to buy all the movies i have again.

Thanks everyone. I ended up paying $24.99 for it at Best Buy. Could have gotten it for $20 online, but I just wanted to have it.

I think I'll watch it late night this weekend and enjoy it with some Chinese food! I have a pretty rippin tv and surround so a movie like this ought to be great.

There is another commentary track with Joss, Nathan, Summer, Adam, and Ron Glass. Apparently, the commentary has a 'visual' component. Other than that, the special features aren't that different from the collector's edition. But, the sound design is outstanding. A lot of things that I missed before frickin lept out at me. I definitely am happy with it. :)

Don't you have the HD-DVD version of Serenity? If so how does the visual quality on that compare to the quality on the BR version?

I don't have it in HD-DVD. What made you think I did? I plan on getting the Blu-ray during the next Deep Discount/DVD Planet 20-25% off sale.

There's web site called dvdbeaver.com (and it's SAFE for work despite the dirty images the name conjures up) that compares images of all the different DVD versions of the same movie using screen caps. They even compared every version of the regular DVDs of Terminator 2. They might have one for Serenity.

I am sort of curious of what TLS thought of the movie. And I sort of now want a BR player just for this disc.

It does, but it's not terribly interesting--just a picture-in-picture overlay of the five of them talking as they watch (albeit from multiple camera angles, so it's not completely static).
