SEQUELS?!

All right, it is normally not my nature to speculate about things way before they have a chance of happening, but I'm curious about what you guys want.

In the event that there are sequels, how do you want their stories told? Are we hoping for a trilogy? Are we hoping for 3 standalone movies? Are we hoping for something like the Matrix or Pirate movies, where the first is a standalone and the last two are basically one big movie separated into 2 parts? It does seem to be a trend.

Do we even know if there will be 2 sequels, if there are any at all?

To be honest, I would like this film to have somewhere to go if sequels get made. I think it would be a good idea if all of these new prequels could fit into some kind of continuity unto themselves, not necessarily conflicting with established facts, but operating as their own mini-adventure. Even if it's like TWOK-TVH, where it was a loose trilogy.

Maybe it could buck the trend and start a duology. Trilogies are all the rage, but the duology is a lost art form...

Currently there are no plans, however like POTC if the first one makes a ton of $ then they'll do 2 more.

This has been the plan all along i'm pretty sure.

I read somewhere that Quinto had signed for sequels. I can't remember if it was for two or three movies total, but I think it was three.

Signing for sequels is just how business is conducted nowadays. They are essentially getting him for future movies in "x" timeframe. This does not mean there are immediate plans for a sequel.
They are focused on this one at the immediate present.

Absolutely. I said elsewhere, don't let's get bogged down in empire building, when we have a dead franchise. Let's jjst have one good movie, and see if it takes. Which I have my doubts about. Maybe it will be one final blaze of glory, and that would be enough for a while.

If they do make (say 2) sequels, I wonder if all three films will take place around the same time period (slightly before or after WNMHGB[?]), instead of following the real world's passage of time. If this was the case, it could be the reason for the relatively young cast. They could be thinking ahead to 5-6 years from now, knowing that the cast cannot look too old for a possible third film.
