See? Now THIS is GIJOE!

That looks like something The Asylum would make.

Do they have a military movie coming out this summer called Joe's GIs? :)

Is this what you wished Wolverine looked like:

nyccwolv2500we6.jpg

Reminds me of my favorite trailer for Wolverine.

I do like the shot of the Baroness who is on the ground after falling

Betcha she couldn't have named 2 G.I. Joe characters before this ;)

Who me? I'm a huge G.I. fan, from issue 2 on. I loved the invasion of Springfield around issue 50, or "Silent Interlude" issue 20. There was an issue wher the Baroness shot STorm Shadow just after he and Snake Eyes made it to shore, and Storm Shadow forced himself into a trans and re emerged after his DNA was used in the creation of Serpentor. As for characters I like, how about Life-Line, Trip Wire, Ship Wreck, Tomax, Xamot, the Dreadnaughts, hell I even like Falcon and Jinx

I was talking about the gal playing the Baroness in the video. I apologize if I was unclear.

Wait...unless you meant that was you playing Baroness in the video. In which case, uh, hi Baroness.

Its been a long time since I saw the cartoon but the new movie trailer appears to "honor" the hi-tech version of GI Joe of the 80s very well. That Youtube thing...not so much....

RAMA

And I find it kind of annoying that an obvious fanfilm managed to honor the source material better than a movie that cost millions of dollars to make and release. Seriously? Paramount couldn't figure this out?

I have my misgivings about some of the things I've seen and read regarding the new movie, such as supposedly normal human characters flying around like they're Spider-Man (power armor or not), but everything I've seen is light years beyond that piece of garbage.

Ah ok. I was the one who misunderstood you. Sometimes hanging out in TNZ gives me the feeling that everyone is being confrontational. I apologize. I am not her, BTW, and I agree that she probably doesn't know any of the characters.

Their hearts were in the right place, unlike the new movie. In their defense, Stephen Sommers' version would look just as ameturish if he didn't have a big time studio cash to back it up. The new Joe movie looks like a polished turd. I wished that I could have seen Lady Jaye hurl her javelin, though.

Give me 90 minutes of the Baroness seducing female human trafficking victims and I'll be a happy camper.

WHOAH JOE!

Disclaimer: blockaderunner in no way endorses human trafficking, white slavery, forced prostitution, or indentured servitude. He is only big geek that desires to see consensual sexual relations between two adult females. Preferably pretty. Thank you.

This is exactly why fanboys have no clue what it takes to make a major motion picture with mass appeal. That crap looks like it was filmed in someones backyard off the Las Vegas strip.

Yeah, but in their defense, even the movie studios often don't know how to make a major motion picture with mass appeal.

i'd rather see Sommers' Joes. that looks crap and amateurishly awful.

Fine. So lemme put it this way:

My fondest GIJOE memories come from reading the comic books represented by these covers:

http://www.yojoe.com/comics/joe/covergallery.shtml

I have always wanted to see a live-action Joe movie, but one that at least tried to resemble what I enjoyed seeing and reading in the comics. Instead, what I'm getting is a movie about Rainbow Six wannabes who are all dressed like they're going to play Robin in the next Christian Bale Batman movie. Naturally, I find this...disturbing. (I mean, forget that it doesn't look like GIJOE. It doesn't even look like normal Special Forces wear!)

So yes, what I posted is a crap fanfilm...made by people who apparently feel the same way I do about what a live-action GIJOE movie should be, so if they make a feature length crap fanfilm, I will watch it happily long before I spend any money on the "GIJOE:The Dark Knight" film that Paramount is foisting on us.

It's easy for a fan film to duplicate the look and feel of the thing it's based on, because it isn't trying to appeal to anyone other than fans of the original property, and because it isn't required to make a profit. Any professional feature film that appeals only to the core fanbase is going to lose huge amounts of money, because the only way to make a feature film profitable is to draw in a general audience much larger than any core fandom. So the requirements for a professional film are fundamentally different from those for a fan film. It has to be more than a slavish copy that only the devoted fans would get into. It has to have a broader appeal and be able to stand on its own merits.

That's crap, Christopher...Paramount could have written it as a straight military/action picture like "Navy Seals". Those are VERY "mainstream friendly", and it would have been closer to GI Joe than the Captain Power wannabe piece of s*** the studio is trying to pass off!

well, a lot of the stuff in GI Joe doesn't look remotely realistic or believeable, be fair. i mean have you SEEN the HAVOC, the STUN or the WOLF? the Air-Skiff? the Maggot?

as for the body armour suits, are you aware that the movie is reportedly set ten years hence? of course it's quasi-futuristic.
