See? Now THIS is GIJOE!

Ok, so I just watched it. Not impressed.

How exactly does this honor the source material, except lots of shooting and noone getting shot?

And I find it kind of annoying that an obvious fanfilm managed to honor the source material better than a movie that cost millions of dollars to make and release. Seriously? Paramount couldn't figure this out?

It's easy for a fan film to duplicate the look and feel of the thing it's based on, because it isn't trying to appeal to anyone other than fans of the original property, and because it isn't required to make a profit. Any professional feature film that appeals only to the core fanbase is going to lose huge amounts of money, because the only way to make a feature film profitable is to draw in a general audience much larger than any core fandom. So the requirements for a professional film are fundamentally different from those for a fan film. It has to be more than a slavish copy that only the devoted fans would get into. It has to have a broader appeal and be able to stand on its own merits.

That looks like something The Asylum would make.

Do they have a military movie coming out this summer called Joe's GIs? :)

Is this what you wished Wolverine looked like:

It was nice weekend or two of these folks time.
For what it is, it's nice to look at but seriously this is like those home made Star Trek TOS films. You wouldn't really want that no matter how decent it really is for what it is.

Sometimes that's true. But other times, filmmakers make changes that baffle me.

Really, that looked better than the shit they are trying to call gi joe. I mean all black. I cant even tell who is who? But Black is kewl...It worked for x-men...

That looks like a terrible cartoon. I'm glad I never paid much attention to it. Even at the age of 3 or 4 I'd rather have watched Airwolf.

I do like the shot of the Baroness who is on the ground after falling

Betcha she couldn't have named 2 G.I. Joe characters before this ;)

Who me? I'm a huge G.I. fan, from issue 2 on. I loved the invasion of Springfield around issue 50, or "Silent Interlude" issue 20. There was an issue wher the Baroness shot STorm Shadow just after he and Snake Eyes made it to shore, and Storm Shadow forced himself into a trans and re emerged after his DNA was used in the creation of Serpentor. As for characters I like, how about Life-Line, Trip Wire, Ship Wreck, Tomax, Xamot, the Dreadnaughts, hell I even like Falcon and Jinx

Looked too cliché to me, and "Yo Joe" always bugged me, even when I was ten. But I will say I preferred the fan-film's Snake Eyes outfit (looks more like a real ninja suit), and Snake Eyes' build was a little closer to a ninja's. Where I come from (the '80s), ninjas aren't supposed to look like hulking, protein-snorting bodybuilders. They're supposed to be cut, but they're also supposed to be lean, agile and graceful. The upcoming film (the trailer, at least) completely struck out on that character, IMO. He's too stocky, his suit seems padded (and the abs are ridiculous), and it looks to me like he got his ninja suit from Sports Authority (or maybe Joel Schumacher's bat cave) - it's too tight and slick looking.

I'll still see it, but I'm not excited about my favorite character, and that sucks.

Despite the weird, inexplicable face outline they put on his mask, I think Snake-Eyes looks the best out of all the movie characters.

That's just typical nonsense from Hollywood. [lisp]"Well, I just don't know how to make color clothes look good on color film so we'll just put them all in black spandex and body armor and they'll look fab-u-lous![/lisp]

And Aragorn, if the stupid costume had actually been tailored to fit the wearer, I would say "yes".

And last I checked, production companies hired tailors and seamstresses.

:wtf:

Snake Eyes in the new GI Joe movie is the same guy as Darth Maul from Star Wars Episode One.

In other words, he's EXACTLY the sort of guy you said that you LIKED and NOT the kind of guy you said you DIDN'T want.

If Darth Maul hadn't worn robes, baggy shirts and kilts the whole movie, that might mean something to me.

I don't care if it's Michael J. Fox in that padded Snake Eyes outfit, he looks too bulky.
