I'm still waiting for "Barclay's Holodeck Variety Hour"
Oh wait, no, that's The Brady Bunch Variety Hour.

I'm still waiting for "Barclay's Holodeck Variety Hour"
The only difference is Michelle Yeoh is still actively involved with Star Trek and the person in charge, Alex Kurtzman, has the series in development. That's already further along than Captain Sulu and Captain Worf ever got.
Star Trek was in Limbo on TV when Michael Dorn came up with his Captain Worf series. And when George Takei wanted to do a Captain Sulu series, Rick Berman had plans for other series.

It will be curious to see what weight she will bring in terms of tone and style. The only difference is Michelle Yeoh is still actively involved with Star Trek and the person in charge, Alex Kurtzman, has the series in development. Nah - everything since TNG's "Hollow Pursuits" has been a Holodeck fantasy dreamed by Lt. Barclay - get it RIGHT!Or

Or is it?
Is all of Star Trek since Voyager just a series of holodeck Broccoli fantasias
did Barclay dream of Benny Russell or was the verse true? Did they both somehow combine their creative talents through the auspices of Brian Brophy?
If Barclay created everything from the third season of TNG to the end of ENT, that would explain a lot.Nah - everything since TNG's "Hollow Pursuits" has been a Holodeck fantasy dreamed by Lt. Barclay - get it RIGHT!![]()
So there... they're all good? The hidden heroes saving people in the dark? XDA show with Section 31 in the mirror universe would be fine by me.
He showed himself on the flagship, people saw him already XDSince the Tyler character is now completely separated from Burnham by several hundred years, maybe we can actually explore him better and he could get good characterization. He's a dichotomous figure, a natural for character growth to the nteenth degree. He can't return to Earth and the original Tyler's home (since that Tyler is dead, and that would be weird). He can't return to Qo'noS and whatever home Voq had (although he was an orphan or whatever, but still), because that would undermine Chancellor L'rell and her public statements about Voq's decapitation. He's a character who only exists within the framework of an officially non-existent agency.
Except this one would have an audience.I'm sensing a pattern.
So this is how they retcon not having WWIII in the Mid-21st Century! The things you have to do when even Real Life contradicts Canon...But yes, I figure the show will go like this:
Section 31: "Kill baby Colonel Green!"
Tyler: "We can't kill baby Colonel Green!"
Empress will be, "Why don't we just murder the baby?"
Tyler: "Because STARFLEET!"
Empress: "Oh fine."
And then baby Colonel green will be redeemed by the power of idealism, thus averting World War 3.

I remember my time in high school. It was one huge Canon Violation. No Eugenics Wars.
Please. Time traveling a thousand years is nothing in Star Trek. If the setup calls for her to return to the 23rd century or some other era; that's what will happen as the series starts.
It’s not like the plot that put her in the future made much sense in the first place.
Discovery hasn’t put much stock in making sense in general.
Yup. I mean, I followed it anyway.Actually, it follows consequences from episode to episode, which means it's the most making sense series of Star Trek.

Eh, I like DISCO.
Yeah it had bumps but all STs do.
I quite liked parts of season 2. But the writers have shown a willingness to sacrifice narrative logic for feels and flash, and that will always run contrary to my preferences.
