I was definitely hoping for a Mission: Impossible-style story, akin to what the short-lived Blacklist spinoff Redemption tried to do several years ago, which sadly also failed (by its cancellation). Although Redemption seemed to have more pieces in place to make it work a little better than S31 did. It had potential. S31 didn't. All IMO, of course.

Meanwhile, Paramount has officially set Star Trek: Section 31 (2025) for Blu-ray, DVD, 4K Ultra HD Steelbook, and Digital release on 4/29. Extras will include 5 featurettes (Art Squad, Alpha Squad, Stunts Squad, Gear Squad, and Georgiou) as well as a gag reel. (Though based on the reviews, the entire film may as well be a gag reel.) The Blu-ray SKUs will include Dolby Atmos audio.

Doesn't look like any deleted scenes will be included. With actors talking about the hard 96 minute running time limit, I expected some excised character bits might be included.

Well, not that it matters in the grand scheme of things, I finally got around to watching this (borrowing my daughter's P+ account.)

While it certainly wasn't very good, it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it might be. I would have liked it better without the forced goofiness by some of the characters. Michelle Yeoh can chew up the scenery with the best of them. I would have liked some nod to Discovery (unless I missed it), but it wasn't that important.

I got the impression they wanted to separate themselves from other franchise properties. In most cases, I would agree with such a decision, as I feel each show should stand on its own merits.

In this one particular case, having callbacks to other series might have helped a little bit.
