Everyone complains about Empress Georgiou getting redemption somewhat in these movies, but it's also clear that the Mirror universe literally told her she would either have to be evil or die. It doesn't excuse her atrocities but how many of us might have unfortunately chosen to live instead of die for our beliefs? It's a situation no one should have to ever be put in.
Yet in a similar sci-fi heist movie, Guardians of the Galaxy, Yondu is romanticized despite being a child abusing slaver who arguably never really changed his ways and more importantly had no excuse for his crimes (he couldn't chosen not to do them and no one would've killed him). Yet Guardians of the Galaxy is considered one of the great films, James Gunn a genius, Yondu a beloved character, while Section 31 is treated as trash viewing (despite every one of the "Guardians" being even more obnoxious than anyone on S31).
Obviously I'm missing something.
