I really want to see the entire set of concept art now, because those have the hints of an actually interesting story in them.
Nice!
I hated the movie. But I liked the look of it! The bar, the aliens, the costumes - really got a good Quark's bar vibe.
And that concept art is just fine - even if I think it has very little to do with what actually ended up on screen?

Some of it was for the TV series version of S31.

Sigh. Getting ready to watch "Tapestry" from TNG on Amazon and am greeted with a S31 trailer (they think this is still marketable?) and it's just hard to mentally connect the two representations of the same franchise.

I don’t believe you.
It's how I have felt for 30 years. It feels too different to my mind. Watching them side by side and I go "They're great and all but not connected."

I've had that feeling since first watching TNG and never could totally shake that feeling. Logically, yeah, they're supposed to be the same. Gut feeling, no, it feels completely different to me. Separate world.

I find it easy to connect TOS movies to TNG, but for the most part I agree apart from a dozen or so episodes.

I can connect TOS and TNG. It takes a big hand wave but goes with "warp drive" and "sapient holograms." And I can almost fold SNW in there.

But to watch an "Old" or "Modern" Trek with "Nu"/"New" Trek? Particularly that S31 movie? Asking a lot.

It all works for me providing everything gets referenced at some point. Visual cues work the best in my case, such as the TNG warp effect used in S31. Just don't think about it too much.

I have never had any trouble connecting any of the Trek shows into the same universe. It takes far less suspension of disbelief to do that than it does to believe in things like warp drive and transporters and a perfect humanity.
Well that's just a matter of degrees for me.

Studying space travel as I have over the last twenty years has led me to sadly feel Trek is more fantasy. Granted it's casual study of research for writing stories but still.

I don't understand why fans can't think the new stuff is new, different refreshing and reinvigorating the franchise. Are we humans so set in our ways that everything always has to be like what we remember and are comfortable with?

Personally I like when they go off the beaten path. Hints of the old are fine too. Just no retreads!

Sean hated the Irish accent (being Irish himself), so this should be an interesting

I thought it was awesome. I see a lot of anglo-accents and it was uncanny. Sean is just being overly sensitive because of past Treks.

@Quantum21, please use multiquote if you want to reply to several people at once. Just hit “+Quote” on all posts you want to reply to and then “Insert quotes…” beneath the reply window. This will neatly add all those posts in your response. Let me know if you need help with that, of course. Thank you! :)

Sorry about that, I'm aware of the multi-quote but sometimes I forget which thread I'm responding to and just carry on. Will be more careful.
