Let's play 6 degrees of decanonization!

Lower Decks decanonizes Discovery.

Strange New Worlds references and directly spins off of Discovery, so it's decanonized too by direct undeniable association.

Section 31 also directly spins off from Discovery, and thus this forthcoming movie is non-canon.

Lower Decks crossed over with Strange New Worlds, thus the decanonizer is in itself, also decanonized by association.

Lower Decks crosses overwith everything, thus Star Trek's entire canon is Spider-Man at the end of Endgame. It don't feel so good...

This is now my head canon.

Inconsistencies in storytelling aren’t usually a reason for decanonization. Bad storytelling however is.

Terminator 3, Salvation and Genisys practically got removed from canon due to bad reception. The nonsensical and confusing timeline were just a bonus. Dark Fate tried to pull it back together.

Same applies to Highlander II which got canonically discarded due to its overall crappiness.

Today, even the responsible executives regard The Exorcist II as non canon. The reason was yet again bad reception.

A successful spin-off will always trump canonical accuracy. DISCO on the other hand was the most poorly received live action Trek tv show ever, by a wide margin. Ofc it can get removed from canon if people chose to do so.

I'm far from the biggest fan of Discovery, but you speak of it like it was some colossal disaster. It got 5 seasons in the age of streaming, that's nothing to scoff at. It also scored two spin-off series and a spin off film. By pretty much any metric, Discovery was a roaring success.

No need to state the obvious. Around here we are brothers in a dark forbidden land, where true fandom is met with wariness and people still believe that the STD show was canon.

We can only hope that the S31 pulp job will become a beacon of repulsion, a guiding light to all of us true Star Trek fans, for that the evil dominion of Kurtzman and his minions finds its end.

These are dark times brother, but as long our voices stay bold and loud, we can overcome this era of desperation.
Seriously man, you need to get out of the house more.

DSC was nowhere near the disaster that Acolyte was.

That’ll kick the bees nest good and hard. :shifty:  :D

I think there's probably a lot of overlap between the people who can't stand Discovery and the people who can't stand The Acolyte.

But it's pretty clear which of them was the biggest disaster. Discovery lasted for 65 episodes and got to wrap up its storylines, while Acolyte lasted 8 episodes and got cancelled on a cliffhanger.

1. Was that who Jayson was referring to? Would Cho (or the studio for that matter) even be interested?

2. But can they be as zany as their animated counterparts?

3. QFT.

I was thinking of Cho but he could also play Prime Sulu IMO. It doesn't have to be Kelvinverse Sulu not that I would mind that idea.

In my Head Canon a version Discovery happened. It just was more interesting. First the tech looked more like TOS tech. The Klingons looked like Klingons. Burnham wasn't Spock' sister. Just a good friend because her parents didn't die and actually lived on Vulcan. He did call her sister only as a nickname. The ship never went to the future. Captain Georgiou never died but did go to mirror universe and they rescued prime Lorca. Adira was part of the crew but not from the future. Same with Admiral Vance.
