Secret software logging all your phone activities!

The entire fiasco around this issue is based on the premise that CIQ was predominantly found on smart-phones tied to specific mobile service providers who sanctioned it's implementation.

Actual OS-es such as Android and Apple in their vanilla form probably do NOT contain the said program.

I'm on Android myself, and I'm using custom vanilla Gingerbread which was compiled from the official release.
0 sign of CIQ.
CM7 (another custom Android Gingerbread ROM) is also devoid of this little program.

First thing I did on my Android Smartphone after I got it was to unlock it online for free and install a custom/clean latest OS.
The speed difference was more than noticeable because there was no mobile provider bloat on the thing, and battery lasted longer.

With Android, of course this is the case. There are no references to CarrierIQ in any of the AOSP code. As has previously been covered in this thread, CarrierIQ was likely being put in at the behest of the carriers... which is why no Verizon devices have it regardless of operating system.

On the other hand, Apple said that CarrerIQ had "been removed" from most iOS 5 devices... meaning that CarrierIQ was implemented in some level with iOS devices and apparently still is to some degree on the iPhone 4. Remember, Apple doesn't let the carriers modify their devices on their own so any monitoring software, 3rd party or not, that ships on an Apple device was put there by Apple.

It will last three weeks on standby, it has a mini USB plug so you can either use its own adaptor or your PC. :)
