Spoilers Season Two Anticipation Thread

SInce Mariner is apparently BI, I'm guessing that we're going to see more of her past lovers show up.

Boimler is only as good as his interactions with Mariner.

I think Mariner is a better character with more backstory and development so far, but I am really interested in seeing Boimler now that he has his dream job, some accomplishment, etc. What is he going to do with it? What can he achieve? It will be interesting to see his storylines separate from the rest of our main crew.

They showed him with his confidence, knowledge, experience with his new shipmates on the Titan when they were headed to Tulgana IV. So, if/when he returns to the Cerritos (and I hope it is not till the second half or near the end of season 2) what new stuff will he bring back in terms of character and contributions to the Cerritos and our other lower deckers?

I like all the four main characters thus far, so seeing them with a different environment and mixing it up with Boimler.

I don't think it is that being bisexual means that you have past lovers but being anywhere else on the spectrum does not.
If you take S1 one way, neither Mariner nor any other character expressed anything but hetero sexual attraction. (Yes, Rutherford is attracted to Billups and was interested in running off togeher with him and buffering warp coils, but one could read that as platonic affection). Mariner found Ransom hot when he was fighting Vindar(sp?) and apparently went on a date with Levy.

If you take S1 another way, Mariner had something more than just friendship going on with Capt. Ramsey. And Mariner could be seen as trying to swoop in on Boimler's ex and taking her out on a date.

The showrunner has confirmed that Mariner is bi and that she and Ramsey were a thing, and basically said they will let her be more out and about with her sexuality. As part of that, it's a reasonable assumption that she will have more past, present and future lovers establish her bisexual nature on screen rather than in a wink-wink nudge-nudge fashion.

Id love some Discovery references. Captain Georgiou reference maybe, since we saw in S1 that she was a highly regarded Captain long before the mirror emperor took her place. Even if the rest of Discovery’s crew was classified, surely she couldn’t have been.

Surely they’ll bring Boimler back to Cerritos at some point.

Well, let's go big, let's do the Shatner episode. Since it's a voice role you could go back to TOS Kirk, the movies Kirk, the Shatner Novels Kirk or all three! The possibilities are endless and really, it is way overdue to bring Shatner back in some capacity.

One way to lead into his appearance is have "conspiracy theory guy" start claiming that Kirk is alive and it has been covered up for several episodes and then have Kirk's holographic personal logs discovered proving he is alive.

If there is a time travel episode, they should do a take on that whole trippy time travel sequence from The Voyage Home; and pair it up with The Firm's Star Trekkin song. McMahan being the Trek nerd he is would appreciate that.

Whoever said bring in Shatner, yes; do that. And Michael Dorn too, he'd probably love to be Worf without having to do the makeup process.

Another holodeck movie but it's Mariner's origin story, where she's basically just Steve Guttenberg in Police Academy. If they can sneak in a Lethal Weapon 2 reference; I don't see why they can't make a PA style parody as well.

ne of the Trek novels implied everyone sees that kind of weird shit when they time travel, but nobody wants to say anything since they're afraid the others will think they've gone crazy.

I know I'm definitely looking forward to seeing Shaxs react to Cardassians visiting the Cerritos.

I wouldn't be that against a Rutherford/Tendi romance, but I wouldn't be that gutted if it never came to pass. I would, however, very much like to see more cameos. Picard will surely pop up at some point, since he's doing work for PIC S2.

I really hope they keep Boimler on the Titan for a good part of the season, even though I can't work out why they have different uniforms on the Cerritos.

Hardly unprecedented. We saw the TNG uniforms and the DS9/Voyager uniforms in use at the same time, hell even on the same ship in Generations. And in Disco, we see their blue uniforms and the TOS style uniforms being used on the Enterprise.

Why not? Starfleet has shown different uniform styles being used at the same time. Sisko wore TNG while on Earth, but the DS9 style elsewhere. Generations used both styles on the same assignment. TOS had both the older style Pike type uniforms as well as the TOS type, also on the same ship at times. Discovery had the blues and TOS tunics.
