Spoilers Season Two Anticipation Thread

Is lower deck status limited to ensigns or are lt. jg's also a lower deck rank?
Lieutenant JGs do get quarters, O'Connor (the ascension guy) was a Lieutenant JG and had quarters. Though it's not clear if those were his own quarters or if he were sharing them with someone or not.

didn't Sam Lavelle in the TNG episode "Lower Decks", get his own quarters when he got the promotion to LTJG?

Since we know that Boimler is going to be stationed on the Titan for at least part of the season, and we know that Riker is still watching Johnathan Archer simulations on the Holodeck, they have everything nicely teed up to have an Enterprise reunion.

After the finale, I am excited for Season 2. Did I read somewhere that:

Marina Sirtis will be a semi-regular next season? Is that the same with Frakes?

The showrunner has said that they don't have plans to have Marina back immediately, and only confirmed that Frakes will be back, but not how many episodes he might be back for. Unfortunately, I can't remember where I saw that he said that they couldn't yet bring Marina back, but he says in the Ready Room finale episode that Riker will be back

Well it is easy to have Frakes back. He is currently doing some work for Discovery and Picard. I'm glad they aren't going to be main characters though. They don't need to be.

I was wondering the same thing! If I were writing fanfic that featured lower-deckers, I would inlcude lieutenants, junior grade in the lower decks category, unless they were permanently assigned to (as opposed to subbing or training in) roles that are normally carried out by higher-ranking officers. Ensign Kim wouldn't be a lower-decker, even though he's an Ensign, because he has a permanent position on the bridge.

Lieutenant JG is like the community college version of Lieutenant.

Instead of getting a Bachelor's (full Lieutenant), you get an Associate's (JG).
Bachelors are Ensigns, Bachelor Hons and Masters are Lt. JG, Doctors are full Lt., Assistant Profs are Lt. Cdr., department leaders are Cdr., deans and directors are Captains...

Like others have said, I'd be okay with not seeing Boimler return to the Cerritos and actually less of him.
