Spoilers Season Three Hopes, Speculations, and Expectations

Mariner hates change and pushes people away. Her first real relationship in Lower Decks is pretty much doomed before it begins.
Sometimes literally

I think T'Lyn will join the ship and be a rival for the science job with Tendi. Tendi will act like they are best friends but hate her.
I also think Jennifer will get promoted and transferred and just feed Mariners insecurities about being left behind.

I am 100% certain we are gonna see a lot of Mariner and Jennifer on Rule34 :guffaw:.

They kinda done it already with the holodeck episode but I can see a time travel episode to either TAS or monster maroon times.
As for random call back people I wouldn't be surprised to see something random like Picards old academy buddy as an admiral or as we haven't seen much from Romulans yet Ambassador Tomalak. Maybe Jake on board too doing a journalistic piece.

I quite liked T'Lyn's story so I hope that she either joins the crew or makes an appearance.

I think Jellico could be a great source of comedy as an acting Captain.

I also hope the Pakled story lasts a bit longer than Boimler on the Titan.

I'm surprised we have yet to see Barkley in the show or any mention of an EMH. Given the timeline we could also see an ensign Rios or maybe THE REAL Bruce Maddox.
I'm pretty sure that the writers get all their ideas from this site so maybe a Robau reference.

I'm surprised we have yet to see Barkley in the show …
It has never been officially confirmed, but it's my pet theory that the character of Ron Emmanuel Docent, Jr. from "Cupid's Errant Arrow" was at some point in the production intended to be Reg Barclay voiced by Dwight Schultz, but that they couldn't get him for some reason and so made him a different character. The character design certainly looks like a Lower Decks version of Barclay and his character background would kind of fit with what we know of Barclay post-TNG.

I think they have to take STPicard into consideration, and are not given carte blanche on what they can include in the show. Riker, Paris, et cetera, all had to go through a brainstorming session and approvals from higher ups (Kurtzman, Secret Hideout, maybe CBS) and with Matalas and the STPicard team.
