I think in the third season premiere, Rutherford and Barnes will go on a date. Also, I think that Ransom will undergo a transformation of some sort.
I also suspect that the ballroom dancing competition will be canceled.

We’ll probably see Ezri Dax/Julian Bashir and the USS Aventine in the season 3 finale.
Other vessel we’ll see: Akira class, Defiant class, Steamrunner class and the Saber class USS Da Vinci. Plus, either a Negh’var class, Vorcha class, or K’t’inga class battle cruiser due to the Klingon involve with the Pakleds.
And due to the Klingons involvement with the Pakleds, we might see Martok, Worf, Alexander and/or Kurn next season.
Maybe a cameo of Admiral Neychayaev

I trust them to write romance better than average, and also that it wouldn't dominate the narative. That said,
that pairing a main cast member with a so-far peripheral character often means the latter gets killed.
