Season 9/Christmas special speculation *spoilers*

*Watches clip on Children In Need*

*headdesk*

Jesus suffering fuck. "The Doctor And Santa Are Back"

Oh, cunt off.

It's weird, the trailer at the end of Death In Heaven looks really good; this clip looks utter children's shit - how the fuck can you get such extremes out of one episode?

Here's hoping the trailer rather than the clip better fits the actual episode.

Also- weird that they still haven't announced its actual title.
They did. The Doctor And Santa Are Back is the title.

:p

I don't know, I kind of liked the clip. The Doctor having hostility towards Santa, Dan Starkey as an elf. It got me interested in the Christmas special anyway.

It's interesting to see that Santa might actually be the villain. Maybe he'll be yet another robot in disguise.

I just hope the moral of the story won't be a "true believer" thing like The Polar Express. I liked The God Complex precisely because it subverted this rather overused theme.

Are you sure "The Doctor and Santa Are Back" will be the title?
That sounds like something write on the front of a Doctor Who comic advertising the special, rather than the name of the episode itself!

Something about that faceoff between Twelve and Santa makes me think of The Celestial Toymaker. Not that Santa himself is the Toymaker, but that he's on the Toymaker's level of higher being.

I just had a wild thought, they reveal Santa really is the Toymaker and then the Missing Episode Omnirumour fools take that as proof positive The Celestial Toymaker has been found and will be released next year, just like when Moffat used the Great Intelligence in The Snowmen and then Web of Fear was found the next year.

You need to get on over to GB and plant the spark for that rumor

How about "The Santa Of The Doctor"?
Oh, you now opened a can of worms (:p):

Santa and the Doctor
Santa of the Dead
Hot Christmas!
At the End of Christmas
Merry Christmas Doctor!
Christmas of the Doctor
Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, Clara
Santa! Clara! Doctor! Kill! Kill!
A Christmas Adventure in Time and Space
Doctor Who and the Elves of North Pole
The Dark Side of Santa Claus
The Second Christmas Invasion
Santa Doctor and the Tale of Extraordinary Co-incidences
Santa is Real! So are his Elves!
The Santa Factor
Mystery of Christmas

I could go on, but I am kinda curious to see what the actual title will be like.

Santa And Clara Do Santa Clara?:devil:

Anyway, as for season 9 speculation, given that it does mark ten years since the modern series began, I think this should be recognized in some way, preferably by bringing back a companion from the RTD era for an episode, perhaps even including an RTD alien like the Judoon or someone.
Good grief, we saw a whole movie with Rose/The Moment just last year. It's not like the Classic Who years when it could be decades between seeing some companions. It'd be nice if Ian Chesterton could at least be heard, if not seen, while there's still some rationale for it (since Clara is still around).

I wouldn't be surprised if Missy becomes a recurring big bad in the vein of the Pertwee / Delgado archnemesis thing. Moffatt has just that going over on Sherlock after all, why not keep going.

The entirety of the classic series 8 had the Master as the baddie. it would be an interesting change of pace to see a modern take on it, which has not been seen on this show as yet. I can even imagine Michelle Gomez taking a place int he title credits if that were the case..!

The Master started with Pertwee. He wasn't in any of the Hartnell or Troughton stories. When he turned up in The Five Doctors, neither the First nor Second Doctors recognized him.

The Doctor's blackboard writing could be significant, or it could just be this incarnation's way of doodling while thinking of other things. We'll probably find out at some point.

Clara... just get rid of her! Let her adopt the kid Danny sent back. Either the kid will take Danny's last name or Clara will be pregnant with Danny's baby and eventually Orson Pink will exist as he's meant to. But let her be gone, hopefully with a reasonably happy ending, never to return. The Doctor needs a new Companion.

The first certainly didn't, but the Second is debatable, as he adds "for anything," when Three says the Master is "hardly a suitable candidate." This could be because the Master is threatening the Doctors at the time, but Two shows no surprise or lack of recognition, so who knows?

Clearly, Santa is the Rani. You won't be expecting it after the whole Missy=The Master ordeal. BAM.

EDIT: My idea for the Christmas Title:
The Gift of Blissful Death

^ Letts and Dicks thought it was mistake, in retrospect, to have the Master in every episode. After all, you saw the Master being foiled again and again. It's a bit different when a villian is foiled repeatedly but there are gaps (the Daleks), but to lose so many times in a season doesn't make the villian look credible.

It didn't help that the Master's plots failed for almost always the same reasons. He'd ally (or try to) with an alien power and then that alien power would turn on him. Terror of the Autons was hardly a great start for the character when all it took was a few lines of dialogue from the Doctor to make the Master realize he made a huge mistake.

The Ainley Master wasn't much of an improvement, when he accidentally wiped out a chunk of the universe.

That's one thing good about the new Who Master, atleast he/she isn't a total moron.

I can't wait for the man eating Reindeers.

That will complete Moffat's plan to ruin all Christmas related things
