Season 7 :(

I didn't really mind Ezri that much and thought the Orion Syndicate stuff was interesting. One thing I didn't like was when Sisko's mom turns out to be a prophet. It just felt off having that thrown in after 6 years.

One thing that irritates me a little is when Ezri is under the influence of the Breen truth serum or whatever... She says a few things... Like "my brother you could be so much more..." and then "about her host" "I am not like you Joran, I am not a murderer"... But her brother IS a murderer!!!! How can she forget that?

Just a thing that I find stupid.

I mean, how can she focus on her brother "not living up to his potential" when he's killed someone, How about telling him to make amends to rehabilitate himself? See what I mean?

I appreciate her relationship with Bashier. Bashier remains my favorite character and his growth makes early DS9 more interesting.

I thought Dr. Bashir's development was one of the best things about DS9. His episodes where he goes from playing a James Bond type figure on the holosuite to almost doing it in real life because of Section 31 were some of my favorites in the later seasons (Inquisition, Inter Arma Enim Silint Leges, etc.)

I like Ezri but not as much as Jadzia. I do agree that trying to develop her character in such a short amount of time did seem to slow down S7.

Instead of bringing back Dax, I would have promoted either Nog or Cassidy to a series regular.

I think they wanted to have some sort of gender balance among the regulars. If they made Nog a regular, Kira would have been the only woman regular.

As much as I don't like Kassidy, it would have made a bit more sense to move her up to regular than have a whole new character.

Just like nearly every other character on any Star Trek show. The only main characters in any kind of LTR were Miles, Sisko*, Tom, and B'Elanna.

And besides, Ezri/Bashir doesn't really do much for me. Maybe because it felt like Chakotay/Seven, two characters being thrown together at the last minute.

*Assuming Sisko returned from his communion with the Prophets at some point, which I think he did.

Personaly, I found Ezri a lot more compelling and wish Jadzia had croaked sooner so that we could have had more of Ezri.

Jadzia was just this this "perfect" person who seemed to be good at everything and always have the upper hand, and honestly also seemed kinda bitchy to me.
Ezri on the other hand struggled with her joined nature, which made her the more interesting character to me.
And I loved what she had to say about Klingons. Finally. One 24th century character who didn't fangirl/boy over them.

That was a big plus. Klingon fan obsession sucked so much during the Berman era. Jadzia did not help.

The Klingons fared better than the Ferengi. The latter basically went from "fascinating culture of greed, capitalism, misogyny, and exploitation" to "Federation 2.0" in seven seasons of DS9.

Neither inspired any love for either species in me.

I don't see Ezri Dax as bringing back Jadzia Dax. They share memories but have very different personalities.

And echoing fireproof, some mild neuroses may make a better counselor. It might actually make them sympathize with their patients.

My favorite Ezri Dax moment is when she calls Worf on the hypocrisy of the Klingon empire.

"Yeah I don't have the Klingon fetish my last two hosts did. All Klingon nobles suck and you know it cause you've repeatedly personally experienced it."

She wouldn't say "suck" or "all" but "the Empire deserves to die" is pretty close, at least to a Klingon patriot like Worf.
