How is there not a new thread already!? :guffaw:

Now this looks very promising. Both excited for the new stories, but also pretty bummed out that this will be our last "regular" season of SNW.

In classic Trek fashion I cannot make out an overarching theme or story arc - but imo this works in the show's favour. Lots of snippets promising interesting one-off episodic adventures. Also seems to be more character focused than the first teaser.

The wait between seasons feels like a long time, especially with how short they are. It's almost here though! It's going to be bittersweet to be starting the last full season soon.

As said in the other thread, I hope Scotty/Uhura is real and not some kind of temporal BS, because I love the idea the TOS crew were all slapping cheeks in various combinations right up until TOS.

What annoys me a little bit is that the marketing still focuses on Kirk & Spock (first & last scene of the trailer plus the thumbnail).

They aren't the main characters! Hell - they aren't even the most POPULAR characters on this show!

I know they want to set up their "year one"... But still, I genuinely believe this show would have more mass appeal if it would put Pike, Chapel, M'Benga etc. at front & center instead.

It's probably simply because their market research shows Kirk and Spock are the most well-known and famous characters, and they hope people will check out the show on the strength of that

They aren't the main characters!
Ethan Peck is the second billed actor in the credits, so if that doesn't make Spock a main character, what does?

Yes, Kirk does have a surprisingly large presence in this trailer and he's even in the cast photo for the season, but then, it kind of makes sense. Captain Kirk is a Big Deal in the Star Trek franchise and Paul Wesley's portrayal has become popular amongst the show's audience so it's only logical he become so prominent in the marketing and promotional material.

In what reality is Spock not a main character in SNW?

By
That one where La'an was sent back in time to correct the timeline and meets an alternate Enterprise and Kirk where Spock isn't part of the crew and instead is desperately asking Enterprise for help.
Do they have a TV show called “Strange New Worlds” in that reality?

Spock is one of the most frequently featured of the ensemble in SNW. Of course he's a main character. So, oddly enough, is Chapel.

Now, it's true that Wesley is not one of the regular cast. He's a sort of featured guest performer.

Which isn't relevant, because a promotional trailer is not a credit roll for the TV series. They put in what they think will pique the interest of potential viewers. Tyranosaurs and K/S are always the way to bet.

Two of the most popular and recognizable Star Trek characters in culture and it's being featured in a promotional trailer? I am shocked by this.

The reality is that trailers are lies and hooks focused on what audience's might like, not what is important in the season.
