Season 3

I remember when I joined this board the Enterprise fans were in a fever of excitement over the anticipated Season 3. There were many jokes about Xindi sloths and so on. However I never saw it at the time.

Anyway on a whim I bought the set, which arrived the other day and so far, to my surprise, it's actually rather good.

I did watch Season 4 and wasn't impressed so perhaps another story arc might have been the way to go?

I'm currently working through Season 3 on DVD, only 2 episodes to go (seen it all before but mostly not since it first aired)
Personally I think it's excellent. IMO Seasons 1 was a bit hit & miss and Season 2 was pretty lame on the whole, but this is great stuff, and shows how underrated ENT really is.
There are some fantastic episodes with the likes of Twilight, Similitude, Proving Ground etc, and everything from Azati Prime onwards is edge-of-the-seat brilliance.

Sure there may be a couple of flunkers, Doctors Orders is a fairly dull VOY rehash, and Extinction is a bit dodgy. But then even the likes of the awesome DS9 Season 6 has fluff like Profit & Lace, but that's just TV for you

One thing that has made me laugh though over the season is Archer's catchphrase, usually shouted at someone- "The Xindi killed seven million of my people!"
 He seems to say it at least once an episode

I liked many of the episodes of season 3. At times I felt the Xindi arc was pushed a bit much but overall it was a good season.

Like Ethros sometimes Archer's catch phrase gave me my own private giggle fest.

I haven't watched it since it was shown on TV, but I remembered liking the zombie Vulcans episode and the one where Archer comes into contact with the eggs and of course, Similitude was a great moral issue episode. Overall though, I prefered the other seasons.

I too thought, overall, season 3 was the best despite a few very good episodes in season 4 (like The Forge). The desperation in season 3 and urgency made for some good television despite some soap operatic elements and disappointing characterizations. What would've hit it out of the park is if the Sphere Builders had a bigger purpose in the show and related, somehow, to Future Guy or the Temporal Cold War.

Season 4 had mostly fan wank -- some very good fan wank, and some very poor fan wank.

Season 3 is my favorite. I liked how they were telling an epic story in the Star Trek universe we knew nothing about. I know that bothered some people, like why hadn't we heard of the Xindi before and all that, but considering the series was set too early in the timeline to really get into a Romulan War storyline, the Xindi conflict was an okay runner up.

The only thing that bothered me was the end, I dislike the way it spirals off into that totally unrelated dreadful Nazi storyline.

You know, i've not watched ENT season three since it aired a few years ago, but I do remember it being a marked improvement over the first two very weak seasons.

I still think Season Four wins, though.

At last i've found some other fans who appreciate season 3. The season as a whole, in my opinion, is Star Treks' best. The stakes are high --- the future of mankind!!
Also Scott Bakulas' portrayal of Archer is simply outstanding, he is so tortured and moody and completely different from the Archer of seasons 1 and 2.
I agree with the poster who said that Season 4 was fanwank. It is excellent fanwank but season 3 is the one for me!

I liked the idea of a '24-hour episode' and mostly it worked remarkably well.

But I have to agree that the alien nazis at the end were a big mistake. If they wanted a cliffhanger there was a galaxy of ways they could do it without insulting everyone's intelligence.

I thought the nazi cliffhanger was excellent! I was expecting a happy ending but that cliffhanger had the 'wow!' factor.
The problem with the nazi storyline was the part 2, which was a bit of a let-down.

I really like season 3 there were alot of great shows.Similtude, Azati prime damage The Forgotten Countdown Zero Hour.

Season 3 was definately my favorite as well. I liked the overall arc because it gave them the ability to do larger stories. It contains my personal favorite episode, Twilight, and the last 6-7 episodes are some of the best that the show did.

I didn't see season 3 or 4 for two years after the show went off the air. Completely turned me 180 degrees into an Ent fan. (I hated year 1 &2)

I thought Season was very good. I liked some Episodes very well which I will keep to myself.

What stands out is the Character develpment. Some characters became more than a Cardboard cutout.

Hated that Nazi bit. Seems that in SciFi series if they want to bring on some real baddies they bring up the Nazi's

They were damned bad Fact is if you didn't live through that time you have no idea just how bad they really were. but enough is enough.

Season 3 is my favourite ENT season. I watched ENT all the way through for the first time this year and caught up on a hell of a lot that I missed after not carrying on after the first season.

The first third of the season unfortunately played a bit like season 1 and 2, albeit with better production values. Music in particular, which had been bland background filler for many, many seasons of Trek, improved dramatically. The second third improved quite a bit - some of the pieces of the arc were dropping into place, and of course Degra's character started developing. By the time the last third was on its merry way, I was taken for a pretty eventful ride. As people have mentioned, from Azatzi Prime onwards, it was relentless!

The cliffhanger in Zero Hour was a total bum though. I was already a bit disappointed with the Sphere Builder's lack of development, but the Alien Nazi ending really took the buscuit. The season ended on a sour note, and season 4 started on one.

The Xindi killed seven million of my people!

... this been an ENT Season3 thread, I felt this had to be said every now and again ;)
