Should that mean something to me?

I no longer keep up with Trek podcasts or YT since most are too repetitive or dismissive of things I find interest in.

They're both examples of Picard S3 appealing* to the broader fanbase.

    * Typo corrected from "appearing"

This is entirely trivial but I like the idea that the age of the Federation in the TNG-PIC Era roughly matches (more or less) the age of the United States relative to when these shows were made.

I'll again take your word for it. I think it's more recapturing some of the disinterested parts of the fanbase that already was appealed too but that's probably hair splitting.

Wouldn't that have happened on ENT?

I mean... it did. The Alliance is formed in 2154 to combat the Romulan threat and to get four local powers of some note to co-operate in order to combat the Romulan Holo Ship.

So if it's 2404 as suspected... then the years match.

For such an historic moment you would think it would have a bigger picture...maybe a commemorative stamp?

Link not working. Got to be careful as wikis do not allow pictures to be hotlinked.

I think Vadic is the long lost daughter of Norah Satie out to avenge her disgraced, passive-aggressive, mother

I don't know why, but from that last Pic S3 trailer, I think the main villain will have been stealing/removing people's memories (or at least those close to Picard - aka, previous TNG cast).

Ok, on Reddit someone was posting that Terry had Tweeted that you didn't have to watch Picard seasons 1 and 2 for this season, but did need to see TNG... and Star Trek II and III. I can't find the alleged Tweet, and they didn't provide a screenshot. Did anyone see it?

But that does raise a question... What if there are literal ties to TWOK and TSFS, not just thematically... Transfer of consciousness, the Genesis device, Ceti eels as a method of mind control, spacedock... Could be nothing, but the mandate of this thread is to explore wild speculation...

Still think Vadic could be Jarok's daughter, out for revenge, after the new trailer.

Maybe Sela was one of the detractors of her family, which could be another reason for her hating Picard and probably explain mentioning her and/or Tasha.

Would also fit with not needing to have watched TNG Season 1 and 2.

Yup. This I can understand. And, in fact, I re-watched all of TNG in 2019 because I didn't want to rely on my faded memory.

That one is odd! Genesis is the only thing I can think of that could carry over literally. If a scientist found an alternative to proto-matter after 120 years, that would put Genesis back into play. Something that caused "galactic controversy" in the 2280s.

EDITED TO ADD: Genesis could be used both as a weapon and as a means to bring life back to planets rendered lifeless and uninhabitable during the Dominion War. So different characters would have different motivations for wanting to make use of the technology.

Terry Matalas must really like Haliians. Is there anything in "Aquiel" that could be of significance? Maybe touch telepaths if it turns out there's some kind of possession plot?

The info on the bridge crew that Matalas posted on Twitter says one of them has served on the Titan for 3 years. Doug Drexler posted on FB stating the Titan was (apparently) launched in 2402. So we are looking at 2405 at the earliest as the S3 setting. That would fit in nicely with the formation of the Coalition of Planets in Terra Prime/Demons. If that’s actually what happened in those episodes, it was a bit unclear. Archer made a speech, there was lots of clapping and then everyone went home.

Then there was that terrible “this alliance will give birth to the Federation” Troi line from the 2161 scene in TATV that made it even more confusing.

In the final trailer there is a shot of Titan in some type of white/bluish maelstrom/debris field and an explosion of some kind. The next shot is of T'veen and the Haliian officer reacting to it as if in pain or distress. So it's possible some type of psychic/telepathic weapon is involved in the plot.
