Season 3 - The Best of the Last 3 Episodes

Captain Zog

Lieutenant Commander
Red Shirt
Of the final three episodes of Season 3 - "The Council", "Countdown" and "Zero Hour" , which is your fav and why?

For me, it has to be "Countdown", which witnessed the tensions developing throughout the season coming to a head and one hell of a battle sequence - plus the Xindi-Aquatic starship! Really engrossing sci-fi. "The Council" comes after that. I enjoyed "Zero Hour" as well, but was a little underwhelmed with it after the sheer adrenalin of the previous two episodes. I feel the season really climaxed in the 3rd and 2nd last episodes.

Countdown was fantastic, there was a real sense of desperation due to time running out and the special effects during the battle were spectacular. The best Trek battle since DS9.

The Council is next because it had some good plot twists and it fleshed out the Xindi some more.

Zero Hour felt like a generic action episode and I was completely underwhelmed by it. If it wasn't for the fact that it ended the Xindi arc it would have been utterly forgettable to me. Also, space nazis?! :wtf:

The battle sequences were top notch. I wish we could get a space battle like that (and those of DS9) on the big screen! The Aquatic ships were awesome and the reconfiguring Expanse due to the Sphere Builders was a spectacular effect in the battle. The entire arc was very well done with nothing being brushed aside.

it's very difficult to choose one, because i saw this three episodes as an arc. and they were fantastic. the space battle is awesome. Hoshi has a good part and linda was great. this arc in big screen and HD must be terrific.
oh, i liked the makeup of the crew when enterprise destroye the sphere.

one negative point : the alien nazi, not a good idea for a finale season. and for the beginning of an another one.

The one aspect that always drives me nuts in Zero Hour is the fact there are no other ships at Earth other than Shran's. I expected them to come out of the vortex and have some Earth vessels and Vulcan ships patrolling the area to help defend Earth from any further attack. The weapon could have been too much but it would have made for an amazing battle sequence over the planet while Archer and a boarding party is inside the weapon trying to disarm it. Not one ship came to help and this is Starfleet Command! It was way too quiet.

^ Yeah, I was wondering about that too. I can't remember but did Archer manage to notify Starfleet that the weapon was on its way? Perhaps all efforts had been directed in evacuating as many as possible.

That's what they should be doing anyways, not sitting there hoping Archer could pull the rabbit out of the hat. In any case, if they were smart, they would have started the process months ago, when Archer left on his mission. It would be interesting to see if the public were ever told of the danger. And if they were or weren't, what other groups of humans might have taken off on their own.

We weren't shown the reactions after the Xindi attack. Mass hysteria? What? We only got the aftermath : alien paranoia.

No, Archer didn't notify Starfleet that the weapon was on its way. But once it came out of the vortex, there was plenty of time to sound the alarm and gather some ships to help Archer out. I can understand the Xindi weapon going after the space station and taking everyone by surprise but after a few minutes there should have been at least a few ships en route to help.
