Spoilers Season 3 Episode 7 'Unification III' Promo

It means that Spock had a plan for Romulus to continue to receive heat and energy after he destroyed one of its suns with a black hole instead of its only sun.

Why would this be a requirement? It would be logical for Spock to let the assholes fry and stop marring his diplomatic record. It's the galaxy he's out to save, and now he can kill two birds with the same redstone!

I hope so, too! I would think the black hole would just pull the planet in, theoretically.
Actually it wouldn't.

A star that collapses into a black hole has the exact same gravitational pull as the star it used to be. So assuming Spock turned the Romulan star into a black hole the planet would just keep orbiting the newly created singularity.

Now, while that would be a problem for us in real life due to the lack of light/heat, the Romulans are far past the point where they could compensate via any number of different technologies.

Frankly, I'll be disappointed if they don't show at least one member of the Discovery crew reacting with surprise at learning that Romulans are related to Vulcans. It would be like if we found out via some throwaway line that Michael learned all about what became of Spock sometime in between the first and second episodes. For me at least, it seems like part of the fun of having the characters transplanted to the future is being able to see their reactions to stuff like this.
Romulans: yeah we're descended from vulcans.

The crew: pikachu shocked face

Meh, the Romulans forget about them all the time. Why not? :D

In universe, I’m sure Remus also got vaporized along with Romulus when Hobus went up. Since it seemed like they weren’t allowed off-world all that much by their Romulan masters, it’s entirely possible that, by now, they are a completely extinct species.

I'd love if it doesn't contradict the existence of New Romulus from STO. But we'll see. Looking forward to seeing the Vulcan-Romulan reunification having come to fruition. :rommie::vulcan:

They'll show the Discovery crew watching the episodes, which are in-universe records. :rommie:
