These are the "Picard folk". The ones that gave us every variation of Romulan under the sun.
Oh god, I hope these young actors will have something else in their resume besides Star Trek! Do you know how many of the TOS cast didn't want to be associated / typecast with Star Trek so they could move on? It was only when everyone got older that they realized it was a decent and reliable cash cow. Look up "I Am Not Spock"... then look up "I Am Spock" to see how Nimoy backpeddled.
Who have nothing to do with this show.
I thought it was common knowledge that different production teams did DSC and PIC. They'd have to--one is in Canada and the other is in California.
Being willing to change visual continuity in a new production is a very different thing if you think you're never going to re-use the old elements again. You make those changes with the assumption that the audience can suspend disbelief with you since the older elements aren't present in the newer production.
But if you start bringing in those older elements, then that completely changes the "ask" you're making of the audience re: suspension of disbelief. It's perfectly legitimate to have totally different Klingons if you're confident you'll never use the old Klingon design again; but if you bring back an iconic old Klingon character with his old makeup, then suddenly the level of suspension of disbelief you're asking for is very different.
So, no, I don't think the creators of DIS would have gone with as extensive a redesign of the Klingon makeup if they had known they'd be bringing back Worf in a couple of years.

Maybe. Maybe not. The common assumption is to throw them all in together, despite many differences. Never miss a chance to take a dig at production teams.
I'd welcome that - saves wasted time and effort for both.
PIC characters have been in both S1 and 2 (except Zhaban, who no one so far seems to be missing *). Who else do you think they should add in S3 to get more PIC characters? Again: Even if each of the new characters from TNG get a whole episode for just themselves, that leaves 7 episodes for all the rest.
Yes, because TUC was in the past, before the previous movies, and not after.
Just like seeing these announced characters in 2401 means seeing them in 2379. Or 2364? I'm confused where in the past we'd be looking.

I thought it was just to frustrate me by pointlessly and annoyingly killing my favorite character every time he pokes his head up.
Spiner should have been recast if he didn't want the gig anymore, Data's life had only begun.

Yeah. When he was around, we didn't get the cringey Picardis ship--that's reason enough to miss him.
This is one area where Picard is easily capable of both folly and extreme paralysis.
Bringing the characters back period.
They also get upset when people want more TOS looking designs, so whatever.
Random, and probably overthinking:
So in the season 3 teaser, at the point at which Brent Spiner starts talking, the music changes to the opening from The Search for Spock. And a few seconds later, Riker talks about it being time to take a road trip and Troi assures Picard he won't be alone.
Search for Spock music, a currently dead character, and a loyal crew telling the captain they'll go on an adventure with him? Seems kinda... on the nose, doesn't it?
Or am I thinking about this too much?

We are sort of handcuffed. It is either mine the past or go forward and Discovery jumping ahead makes that tough not only because it is hard story wise to go beyond that and even more difficult from a production and aesthetic perspective.
Maybe that can be patched by retconning the Discovery/Strange New Worlds into a distinct time line and leave the burn and all of that to the side so you aren't constrained by that destiny and don't have it hanging over the audience even if you just ignore it and play in the sandbox before that all goes down.
That also allows the possibility of side stepping the choke point for SNW and allow Pike and company to have an open ended story that can go anywhere for any length of time.
Given the response to Picard the answer appears to be the past.
Oh at least we can all be sure these people will not look like in 2363-2379
(Btw, Riker's beard seems to be shorter than in S1, more like in TNG
)
Bringing back Data again would be awful, even if they do better with the de-aging this time. It would basically be invalidating the entire story of Season 1. Whatever other issues Season 1 had (and there were many) the final scenes with Data and Picard were beautifully written. Save for the fact that Geordi didn't get to be there, it was the perfect sendoff.
